We never made it to the movies this summer, due to a combination of life being hectic, and the fact that most of the theaters that were closest to us have closed over the past year. (There's also the issue that we've lost a lot of interest in sitting in a crowd ever since the pandemic.) For the most part, that was fine. There weren't too many films that made us think, "Oh, we need to see that on a big screen." However, one of the only exceptions was the global blockbuster, Deadpool & Wolverine. It was disappointing not to... Read more →

Full disclosure: Having really enjoyed 2019's Captain Marvel, it was disappointing at first to hear that Carol Danvers would not get her own solo sequel. Instead, she was to be paired with Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau in a buddy film. It felt like a lack of confidence from Marvel that was unjustified. However, despite misgivings about that decision, yours truly promises that what follows is an objective review of The Marvels, which is now available on Disney+. While this wasn't our first preference, it turns out that these three women team up in one of the more entertaining Marvel... Read more →

The turmoil of the past few years has left us more selective about going to the movie theater these days. It's the same question each time: "Is this a movie we have to see on the big screen, or can we just wait for the streaming option?" However, we've always known we'll be buying a ticket for the upcoming, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The first movie in the franchise was one of the best we've seen in years. Now we need to find out how writer/director Ryan Coogler and the rest of the cast move forward after the still-shocking death... Read more →

Our crew has been eagerly awaiting Marvel's big three movies for this year (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) for what seems like ages. Doctor Strange was a disappointing mess, but we had faith that Thor would be a nice rebound. Were we right? Let's discuss... (We'll try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible.) Plot: Thor is looking to retire and focus on finding the inner peace that continues to elude him. His quest for tranquility is interrupted by the arrival of Gorr the God Butcher. (You can probably... Doctor Stephen Strange has been busy the last few years. He helped the Avengers save the universe from Thanos, and then he and Spider-Man got into a little trouble with the multiverse last year. Now the sorcerer is back with his first solo adventure since 2016, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Star Benedict Cumberbatch can do little wrong around here, but this movie is a disappointing mess. Disclaimer: We'll do our best to keep this review spoiler-free. Plot: The movie finds Doctor Strange having to save a mysterious girl named America Chavez, who is currently being chased... Read more →

This was our first trip to the movies in 18 months. It was almost more about needing to experience a larger-than-life adventure on the big screen than anything else. Of course, watching Scarlett Johansson take out the bad guys is always fun. Summary: Black Widow is set in the immediate aftermath of the events of Captain America: Civil War. The Avengers have split up, and Natasha Romanoff is on the run from the U.S. government when she receives a mysterious package from an unlikely character. Watching her protect the contents of said package gives the viewers the opportunity to fill... Read more →

The second Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer is here to get you amped up for the film's release on July 2! Warning: This trailer reveals a major Endgame spoiler, so bail now if you don't want to know what it is. We won't be offended. Go. Go now. The wait is over: Avengers: Endgame has finally arrived! Thanos demands our silence when it comes to spoilers, so we're going to keep this discussion to general thoughts (with one quick note), and then maybe revisit it in a few weeks once the film is done dominating the world. It's been a year (in the real world) since have the population of the universe disappeared with one snap of the fingers, and our heroes are still trying to recover from their devastating loss. They've been joined by Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel since the last film. The only thing we'll say here... Read more →

We made a mistake. We had the best of intentions, but it's clear we made an error. It all seemed pretty straight-forward, but now we've got a problem. Avengers: Endgame is right around the corner, and there's a new trailer, so we thought we'd check it out. No harm, no foul, right? The problem is that now we won't be able to get to sleep between now and April 26, because this clip is just awesome. It's a simple straightforward recap of how we arrived at this moment, and we've still got goosebumps. Eleven years of universe building that comes... Read more →
