With Doctor Who: Flux due to begin on October 31, we were starting to worry there might not be a proper trailer for some reason. This was an unusual little stretch for Doctor Who fans. Friday was humming along, when all of the show's social media channels, and its website, suddenly shut down without warning. As Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall prepare for their final Doctor Who series later this year, we've argued that finding the right showrunner to replace Chibnall is more important than identifying Whittaker's successor as the Doctor. Chibnall seems to have little idea of who the 13th Doctor is, and where the show is going, which has resulted in a lot of drifting. The rumors are true: The BBC confirmed that Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall will both be leaving Doctor Who, following three specials that will air in 2022. This feels like a mixed bag. "Three series and out" has been the standard operating procedure for the lead actor during the modern era of the show, so it's not a surprise that this change is coming. (Although, we would love it if the next Doctor would break that pattern.)
