Broadchurch Recaps Feed

Hi everyone, Welcome back! We weren't sure how many of you would be able to make it today. BDH and Little Buddha wish you all a very merry Christmas and hope you have a lovely day ahead of you. For those of you who find today challenging, we send you our best wishes and hope that you engage in some nice self-care. We thought we'd take a quick look at the headlines before things get crazy around here. The guys made you a fresh pot of coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, because it's time to clear... Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller figure out who raped Trish Winterman, as Broadchurch comes to a close. Warning: Spoilers ahead Observations: Well that was quick! Hardy and Miller arrest Clive Lucas in the first few minutes of the show. I thought he was the most likely suspect. Wait, what are we going to do for the rest of the hour now? We're not done yet, are we. This interrogation is going especially badly for Clive. Now we're done, right? No, there's still too much time. What's he covering up? Ed Burnett is right, if he really used that twine to... Read more →

Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller are primarily focusing on one suspect this week, but is it the right one? Meanwhile, it looks like there might be another death in the town... (Warning: Spoilers ahead) Observations: Poor Mark Latimer. We're three minutes into this episode, and my heart already hurts watching him drown in guilt over his son's death. Actor Andrew Buchan really makes it feel like he's been lost for years. Will there ever be any peace? Is this the week we learn more about Ed Burnett? He seems to be the one suspect we don't know much about. Ahh,... Read more →

New victims are discovered, but does that increase or reduce the possible number of suspects? No matter where you look, the message this week is clear: Men are awful. It's too bad Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller can't arrest them for that. (Warning: Spoilers ahead) Observations: I'm still in love with how gorgeous the visuals are on this show. Almost every scene looks like a painting. Hopefully Chris Chibnall can transfer this over to Doctor Who next year. Now we have Laura Benson as victim #2. If we assume for the moment that we're only dealing with one rapist, doesn't... Read more →

Trish revisits the scene of her attack, another suspect is added to the list, and new details come out about what happened that day, as Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller continue their investigation. (Warning: Spoilers ahead) Observations: Of course, the big off-screen news this week is that Broadchurch's Jodie Whittaker has been announced as Peter Capaldi's replacement on Doctor Who! I thought Olivia Colman was the much more likely choice, but we'll be paying more attention to Whittaker's Beth Latimer for the remainder of this series, looking for any clues about her take on becoming #13. This week felt like... Read more →

Assumptions about Trish's attack run rampant, and the more that Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller investigate, the longer the list of suspects seems to grow. (Warning: Spoilers ahead) Observations: This week's episode featured a theme of challenging assumptions about "what kind of woman" is sexually assaulted, and "what kind of man" could commit such a heinous crime. The fact of the matter is that every woman is at risk of that kind of crime, and any type of man could commit it, which makes Hardy and Miller's job increasingly difficult. My vote is that the text message and gifts that... Read more →

Now that we know what crime was committed, it's time for Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller to figure who is the criminal. (Warning: Spoilers ahead) Observations: The season premiere did a terrific job of laying out the immediate aftermath of the attack on Trish. This week's episode follows up by setting up what a daunting challenge Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller have in front of them. They've got a long list of possible suspects, limited resources which are also unhelpful in one particular instance (hi, Katie Harford), and then some new questions about what details Trish is holding back. Other... Read more →

There's a growing sense of sadness at Clutter Headquarters over the fact that the season finale of Doctor Who, which is also Peter Capaldi's final regular adventure as the Doctor, is coming on Saturday. The staff is already developing a bit of withdrawal, but fortunately, we've found a remedy. As Doctor Who wraps up, the final season of Broadchurch begins on BBC America! That should help us get through the next two months. It's always a pleasure to see David Tennant and Olivia Colman on the screen again, so let's begin... Synopsis: There's been a sexual assault in the town... Read more →
