Hi everyone,

Happy Friday and November 1 to you.  What's the plan for this weekend?  There are two major items on our to-do list:  1) I have to remember to turn our clocks back on Sunday.  Not looking forward to that.  Yes, the extra hour of sleep is nice, but now we start talking about 4:30 p.m. sunsets.  Bleah.  2) Much to our great disappointment, we didn't have any trick-or-treaters last night, so now I also need to make sure BDH and Little Buddha don't eat all of the leftover candy this weekend.  It doesn't take much to get them wound up, so moderation is critical.

First, let's check out the headlines.  There's a fresh pot of coffee on the counter, so grab yourself a nice medium DD, because it's time to clear out some Clutter.

Vice President Kamala Harris blasted Donald Trump for his recent remark that he would protect women whether they "like it or not."  As Harris pointed out, the comment reflects Trump's complete disregard for women's ability to make their own decisions about their own lives.  It's completely in line for a sexual abuser who appointed the Supreme Court justices who helped overturn Roe v. Wade.  Trump and the rest of the MAGA cult see women as objects to be controlled.  In four days, this country can finally give him the boot once and for all.

Jennifer Lopez endorsed Vice President Harris yesterday and also criticized comedian Tony Hinchcliffe for referring to Puerto Rico as, "a floating island of garbage" at Donald Trump's recent hate rally in Madison Square Garden.  The singer/actress said, "It wasn’t just Puerto Ricans that were offended that day. It was every Latino in this country. It was humanity and anyone of decent character."

LeBron James also endorsed Vice President Harris on Thursday, tweeting "What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!"

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is now trying to incite violence against former Rep. Liz Cheney, a woman who has not held back in explaining the threat he poses to our country.  Trump said to his supporters at a rally yesterday,

“She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her,” Trump said. “Okay, let’s see how she feels about it. You know when the guns are trained on her face — you know, they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building,” Trump continued.

These are the words of a wannabe dictator who doesn't hesitate to threaten his opponents' lives.  Trump has been engaging in this kind of inexcusable rhetoric for years, and it's not going to stop.  He's a criminal who needs to be locked up.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told reporters that Donald Trump "promised" him "control of the public health agencies" if Trump wins next week.  Yeah, how about we don't put a raging anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist in charge of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture.

Trump Media's stock price fell another 12% yesterday, following a 22% drop on Wednesday.  Investors seem to be heading for the doors before next Tuesday's election, and they're taking billions of dollars of the company's value with them.

Apple sold $46.22 billion worth of iPhones during the summer quarter.  That's a 6% increase over the same period in 2023, so apparently the company isn't in danger of going into bankruptcy or anything anytime soon.  That's a relief.

Our crew has always had a fondness for M&M's, but the latest holiday flavor doesn't particularly grab our attention.  Will you rush out to buy it as a stocking stuffer?

It's not surprising Boston Red Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito picked up his $19 million option for the 2025 season yesterday.  The righty missed the entire 2024 season after having elbow surgery, so he wasn't going to get paid like that anywhere else this offseason.  Giolito is reportedly expected to be ready for spring training next year, so here's hoping he's motivated to earn that paycheck.  If he's healthy, he's a good pickup for the starting rotation, but the Red Sox should still target a #1 guy this winter.

We also want the Red Sox to pick up a right-handed power hitter this offseason, but we won't complain if they actually go after left-handed free agent Juan Soto.  The man would put up some insane numbers in Fenway Park, but given that he's probably going to get at least a $500 million deal, our guess is that he stays with the New York Yankees.  Of course, this conversation wouldn't be necessary if the Sox had just kept Mookie Betts, who is proving to be worth every penny of his 12-year/$365 million contract with the Dodgers, but that's just our eternal anger at Boston's ownership coming through.

It won't exactly be a preview of the Super Bowl when the 2-6 New England Patriots face the 1-6 Tennessee Titans on Sunday.  As of right now, it's unclear if Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will be cleared to play after suffering a concussion last week, so let's assume Jacoby Brissett is starting for New England.  The game is on the road, but we're hoping the Patriots will be eager to build on their tough win against the New York Jets last week, so what the hell, let's say the Pats improve to 3-6 on the year.

Warner Bros. is burying Clint Eastwood's new movie, Juror #2, but it sounds like it's at least worth eventually finding on a streaming service.

We mentioned here recently that Eva Longoria saved the original John Wick movie with an emergency $6 million infusion.  Apparently that investment is still paying off for the actress a decade later.

What is this, we're getting another FBI departure?  Lisette Olivera is reportedly leaving the show, and she hasn't even appeared on-screen yet.  The actress was supposed to play Stuart Scola's new partner, but apparently that plan fell through.  The linked article says it's because in hindsight, Olivera looks like she might be too young for the role.  Color us suspicious on that explanation.  Dick Wolf's shows burn through cast members, and we're particularly wary when women of color come and go in the blink of an eye (which has happened multiple times on Chicago Fire.)

Boston's own Bill Burr will host the first post-election SNL on November 9.

General Hospital actress Kelly Monaco got a raw deal with her recent firing, but at least yesterday's episode, which featured the beginning of the tributes to her character Sam McCall, were worthy of her 21-year run in Port Charles.  Now, this being a soap opera, TVInsider.com has a number of ways Monaco could return to the show.  Given the public nature of this acrimonious split, it's hard to imagine her coming back anytime soon, but never say never.  In the meantime, we wish Monaco the best with whatever comes next.

Nerdist.com has a look at how well the end of Agatha All Along matches up with the comic books.  This is why we like having a casual grasp of the MCU.  We basically understand how the characters fit together, but we're not constantly comparing the movies and TV shows to the source materials while we're watching them, which allows for more surprises as events unfold.  After that, we can circle back to see what we missed.

If you need a Christmas present for a Seinfeld fan, the complete series will be released in Blu-ray and 4K UHD on December 17.

Supermodel Heidi Klum is well-known for her elaborate Halloween costumes, and she really outdid herself this year.

Linkin Park's new album comes out on November 15, but if you can't wait that long, there are listening parties taking place around the country on November 9.  Unfortunately, none of those events are anywhere near us, so we'll just have to hold out for another two weeks, but we've liked what we've heard so far.

Okay kids, that's going to do it for now.  Here's Lenny Kravitz to close things out with, "Honey" for today's, "Song of the Day."

Thanks for stopping by, folks.  It was great to see you, as always.  Enjoy the rest of your day, don't forget to change your clocks, and we'll catch up with you again soon.  Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
