Hi everyone,

Welcome back, and a happy Labor Day to you all.  We hope you're enjoying the long weekend.  Things have generally been quiet on this end, which is fine with us.  The one problem is that I forgot the library is closed on Sunday, and now it's closed today because of the holiday.  Thus, BDH and Little Buddha don't have anything new to read right now.  The guys say not to worry about it, and that they can wait until it reopens tomorrow.  Man, I wish I went with the flow as well as those two do every day.

There isn't much on today's to-do list, but we still want to check out the headlines with you, so let's get to work.  There's a fresh pot of coffee on the counter, so grab yourself a nice medium DD, because it's time to clear out some Monday Clutter.

We have teamed up with Clearly Balanced Days, a NH-based/women-owned CBD company.  Enter promo code "cmoore" to get $5 off your next purchase!

If you would like to support us, we'd be thrilled if you'd consider buying us a cup of coffee here!

The man who regularly brags about appointing the U.S. Supreme Court justices who helped overturn Roe v. Wade, and spoke about the need to "punish" women who seek abortions, would now like you to believe that he supports the federal government paying for IVF treatments.  Yeah, that must be why we're still waiting for Donald Trump's supposed alternative to the Affordable Care Act.  His administration just couldn't decide how much to spend on fertility treatments.  The man is losing ground with women voters every day, and he's desperate to stop the bleeding.

Vice President Harris and President Biden will campaign together in Pennsylvania today for the first time since Biden dropped out of the race.  We're sure President Biden is still working on accepting the idea of being a surrogate instead of the candidate.  However, his work in his home state for Vice President Harris will be critical between now and November.

Elon Musk's endorsement of Donald Trump is apparently helping Vice President Harris more, because all it does is reinforce how opposed Trump is to working-class interests.

It turns out that Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was once a scene partner with Matt Damon while the two both attended Harvard University.  If you find a way to win a bar bet with this tidbit, please feel free to donate a portion of your winnings to our coffee budget.

Kemi Badenoch is running to be the next Tory leader in the U.K., and apparently her platform is to go after David Tennant.  We'll side with the beloved 10th/14th Doctor on that one, thanks.

Protesters in Israel are once again demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reach an agreement with Hamas for a cease-fire and return of hostages.  There are so many issues involved in this war, but it is clear that Prime Minister Netanyahu has put his own interests ahead of his country's, time and time again.  Like Trump, Netanyahu's top concern is not going to jail (on corruption charges in this case), and he'll do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn't happen.

The Boston Red Sox lost 4-1 to the Detroit Tigers yesterday in what can only be described as a brutal defeat.  Red Sox starter Cooper Criswell was perfect through four innings, when manager Alex Cora lifted him to start the fifth.  He was replaced by Rich Hill, who walked the first batter he faced and then gave up a two-run home run to lose the lead.  Cora indicated that this was always the plan, but it made no sense to stick with that, when Criswell was clearly delivering the goods.    You've got to trust your eyes more than the analytics in some cases.

Crisell only threw 52 pitches.  He likely could have gone at least another 1-2 innings, which would have helped the bullpen, which clearly still needs some rest in this final stretch.  This isn't second-guessing after the fact, because the move made no sense at the time.  It also didn't help that the Red Sox offense was quiet and left six runners on base yesterday.

The loss drops the Red Sox to 4.5 games back in the race for the final AL Wild Card spot.  We appreciate that the team is playing meaningful baseball in September.  That's really our primary ask of every season, and it hasn't happened a few times recently around here.  However, this group's playoff chances are hanging on by a thread.

Next up:  The Red Sox start a series against the New York Mets tonight.  Brayan Bello takes the mound for Boston tonight.  Here's hoping he can build off his last outing, which was tremendous.

(*Also, while things didn't go well yesterday, let's just take a quick moment to appreciate how insane it is that 44-year-old Rich Hill is back with the Red Sox and in the majors for his 22nd big league season.  Good for him.  Now stop giving up leads, Rich.)

This People article on retired gymnast Aly Raisman and her rescue dog Mylo is really more of an advertisement for a dog supplement company.  However, you should click on it anyway to see the pictures of Mylo, who is adorable.

Gotta say, we're intrigued by this glowing review of Jason Reitman's upcoming movie Saturday Night, which looks at the 90 minutes right before the premiere of SNL's first episode in 1975.  Still not sure we'll make it to the theaters to see this in October, but we might bump it up higher on the streaming watch list.

Emily Wickersham recently shared some thoughts about leaving NCIS three years ago.  The former Eleanor Bishop talked about her departure with other NCIS alum Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo on their new podcast.  Our question is, was this just a case of three actors talking about their experiences on the same show, or does Wickersham's appearance mean Ms. Bishop might be coming to Weatherly and de Pablo's new series, NCIS: Tony & Ziva?  That's intriguing.  We might have to rethink our feelings about a Paramount+ subscription when that adventure starts next year.

Doctor Who boss Russell T. Davies said he expects to hear a renewal decision about the show at some point after the next season airs in 2025.  We're not overly concerned about this at the moment.  That's usually the time frame for these things in the United States, so it makes sense the same thing would happen in the United Kingdom.  Hopefully Disney will want to continue their partnership with the BBC, because those increased production dollars have a huge impact.  If that doesn't happen, Doctor Who still feels like too big of a global brand for the BBC to pull the plug on it again anytime soon.

Friday certainly seemed to be the end of the road for a character on General Hospital.  However, now we have some lingering doubts about whether or not things were as they appeared.  Assuming there's no swerve coming today, this individual got a bad deal when the soap opera changed writers.  If it turns out this was one big "gotcha" moment, we hope this person can be repaired, because they've become silly recently.

In other Port Charles-related news, SoapHub.com suggests a new General Hospital adventure that we completely support.  One of the involved characters could use a shakeup in their life, and the other one is just the person to provide it.  Hopefully this article isn't a prediction, it's a spoiler.  (h/t:  Paul Heyman)

There's reportedly a One Tree Hill sequel in development at Netflix.  It will star Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, and all we can say is, we are here for it.  One Tree Hill was a guilty pleasure here for most of its 2003-2012 run, so if Bush and Burton are going to reprise their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, we'll tag along for the ride.

We're shocked to hear that Ticketmaster apparently couldn't handle selling Oasis reunion tickets on Friday.  Shocked, we tell you.  The company normally provides such a smooth experience that doesn't leave their customers feeling ripped off by outrageous fees and greedy "dynamic pricing" or anything.  This should be the next monopoly the government dismantles.

Adele said once again this past Saturday that she's planning on taking an extended break from music once her Las Vegas residency finishes in October.  Good for her.  If the singer feels like she's running out of gas on the creative front, and she wants to take another break to explore other opportunities, that's exactly what she should do.

Linkin Park now says the band has an announcement coming on Thursday.  This comes after the band's website had a clock that counted down to zero last week before...counting right back up again.  However, if it turns out that the group is going to announce a tour with vocalist Lizzy Hale, then all will be forgiven on this end.  Hale would be a great fill-in for the late Chester Bennington.  (If this turns out to be the reveal of another clock, then we're going to need to talk.)

You've really got to see 11-year-old Maya Neelakantan burn through a cover of Metallica's, "Master of Puppets" on America's Got Talent.  She absolutely crushed it.  Cheers to the band for letting her use the song on the show, because she did them proud.

Okay kids, that's going to do it for now.  Given that it's Labor Day, here are Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello to close things out with an amazing live version of, "The Ghost of Tom Joad" for today's, "Song of the Day."

Thanks for stopping by, folks.  It was great to see you, as always.  Enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll catch up with you again soon.  Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
