Hi everyone,

Welcome back.  How are you?  BDH, Little Buddha and I were just talking about how it's in the low 30's right now, but the high temps are supposed to be in the 70's later this week.  That's probably not a good sign.  At least we know the boiler is prepared for the winter after yesterday's maintenance appointment.  It cost me a little more than expected, but it's worth it for the peace of mind.

The guys gave me today's to-do list, which seems like business as usual.  There will be a quick stop at the bookstore to check out the new releases once we're done here.  I might need to get the guys the new Britney Spears' memoir.  We'll see.  First, let's check out the headlines.  There's a fresh pot of coffee on the counter, so grab yourself a nice medium DD, because it's time to clear out some Tuesday Clutter;

We have teamed up with Clearly Balanced Days, a NH-based/women-owned CBD company.  Enter promo code "cmoore" to get $5 off your next purchase!

Donald Trump's disconnect from reality continues to grow as he falsely claimed he's never been indicted yesterday.  Trump was taking questions from reporters while filing for the NH GOP presidential primary when he said,

“We did nothing wrong. This is all Biden, indictments and impeachments and this is all about Biden, he can’t do anything right. The only thing they know how to do is cheat in elections and election fraud. This is all by himself.”

“All of these indictments that you see. I was never indicted. Practically never heard the word. It wasn’t a word that registered,”

Of course, the rest of us know that Trump has in fact been indicted four times.  The man lies as easily and often as he breathes.  It's a compulsion, and if he was anyone else, his loved ones would find him professional help.  However, no one in the Trump crime family cares about anyone except themselves.  We can't afford to let this crew back into the White House.

Donald Trump also told NH voters, "You got to get out there and watch those voters, "You don’t have to vote, don’t worry about voting. The voting, we got plenty of votes.”  You heard your leader, MAGA cult.  He says you can take a pass on voting next November.

A three-judge panel from the First U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will decide in January if presidential immunity protects Donald Trump from E. Jean Carroll's defamation claims.  The appeals court should toss out Trump's argument, because it's obvious his legal team is making it up as they go along.  They took three years to bring up this claim during the original trial.  If they really thought it had legal weight, why the delay?  Donald Trump survives by weaponizing the courts at every opportunity.  That's got to stop, once and for all.  The judicial system needs to hold him accountable for all of his crimes.

Yesterday it was Mike Pence, and now we're talking about whether or not Senator Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) can qualify for the next GOP presidential debate on November 7.  Like Pence, we also have to ask, even if Scott makes it, does it matter?  He may be shifting all of his resources to Iowa, but Senator Scott is stuck in the low single digits in the polls with little to no sign of that changing.  How much longer before his supporters realize this is all a waste of time?

If anyone in the GOP is serious about beating Donald Trump (which is doubtful), this crowded field has to shrink and rally around one opposing candidate.  However, it's still Trump's nomination to lose, because the MAGA cult is standing by their leader, even if he walks them right off a cliff.

One of the new candidates for speaker of the House dropped out ahead of today's expected vote, so now we're down to eight choices.  Is this what passes for progress for Republicans?  What an embarrassment.

The International Energy Agency believes that global demand for fossil fuels will peak before 2030.  That would be terrific news for the planet if it turns out to be correct.  However, the clock is ticking, and climate activists argue things need to move even faster in order to avoid a global calamity.

BDH and Little Buddha want to take a moment to express their condolences on the passing of Bobi, the world's oldest dog.  Bobi was 31 years and 165 days when he died last week.  Our crew has no doubt he was the best boy.  Cheers, Bobi has an article about 10 players one might have forgotten ever played with the team.  Not to brag or anything, but we remember all 10 of them well.  However, it is still funny that Rickey Henderson was ever a member of this organization.  On the flip side, how many Red Sox fans remember that Dwight Evans ended his career with the Baltimore Orioles?

We remember the days when we'd get much of our sports news from Sports Illustrated.  That extended into the early days of the Internet, but now the site seems to publish nothing but clickbait.  Check out this headline:  "Ex-Red Sox Hurler Emerging As Candidate To Become Boston's Pitching Coach."  Going by that, you'd think progress had been made in the search to replace Dave Bush.  However, the article only says San Francisco Giants pitching coach Andrew Bailey reportedly wants to move back to the East Coast.  That's it.  The team apparently hasn't made contact with him or anything.  The author is just wildly speculating.  It's a sad fall from SI's glory days.

Congratulations to the Texas Rangers on beating the Houston Astros 11-4 yesterday to punch their ticket to the World Series.  This will be their first time back since 2011.  Anyone who beats the Astros is okay in our book.  Unless it's the New York Yankees, of course, but let's be serious - they're not going to get that far anytime soon.  Now the Rangers have to wait and see who they'll face, as the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 7 of the NLCS tonight.  Philly is our default NL team, so we have to pull for them.

There was a lot to feel good about re: the New England Patriots beating the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.  The improved play of the offensive line remains at the top of the list.  However, the possible emergence of rookie wide receiver Demario Douglas as a legit speed threat for the offense is also right up there.

Interesting:  The San Francisco 49ers lost 22-17 to the Minnesota Vikings last night, which makes it two straight defeats for them.  The 49ers were believed to be at a different level than just about any other team in the NFL.  There's no doubt they're tremendous, but are they coming back to Earth a little bit?

Sorry, Tom Cruise fans:  The next installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise is being moved from June 2024 to May 2025, because of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

We started watching Jennifer Lawrence's No Hard Feelings on Netflix and only got through about 20 minutes of it.  We like the actress, but nothing was funny, and it didn't seem like things were likely to change.  Maybe we've aged out of the target audience demographic, because the movie is doing well on the streaming platform.

The BBC released a behind-the-scenes video yesterday to mark the one-year anniversary of David Tennant's return to Doctor Who.  First off, it's hard believe it's already been that long since Jodie Whittaker regenerated.  We continue to believe she got a raw deal during her run as the Time Lord, particularly around the scripts, and we hope she'll consider revisiting it someday via Big Finish audio adventures.  Second, now that it's been a year, and Doctor Who's 60th anniversary is less than a month away, can someone please tell us when the November specials are going to air?  We need to get these dates on the calendar!

While we're sitting here waiting for the anniversary specials, filming has already begun on Ncuti Gatwa's second season on Doctor Who.

In other David Tennant-related news, it sounds like people expect Amazon to renew Good Omens for one more season, which is great.  However, Douglas Mackinnon is no longer with the series.  No explanation yet about why the executive producer, director, and co-showrunner has moved on to other projects, but that's disappointing.  All of the public statements about his departure are short, which makes us think it didn't happen on good terms.  We wish Mackinnon the best with whatever he does next, and we can't wait to see how the story of Aziraphale and Crowley eventually ends.

It appears that The Offspring expect to release a new album in 2024.  Always happy to hear the latest from those guys.

Okay kids, that's going to do it for now.  Here are the Rolling Stones (along with some guy named Paul McCartney) to close things out with, "Bite My Head Off" for today's, "Song of the Day."

Thanks for stopping by, everyone.  It was great to see you, as always.  Enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll catch up with you again soon.  Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
