Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe Team up Again for 2023 World Tour
10/21/2022
Hello to our friends outside of the United States!
As you may have heard, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe announced a second leg of their hugely successful tour that will see them travel through Latin America and Europe in 2023. The first show is February 8 in Mexico, and the final one is on July 6 in Scotland. (Click here to see the full list of dates.) The groups' joint 2022 "Stadium Tour" reportedly sold 1.3 million tickets and earned $173.5 million just in North America alone. With those kinds of numbers, taking the show on the road is a no-brainer.
We wrote about the Stadium Tour back in February, and it was by far one of our most widely-read, and commented-upon, stories this year. Fans felt strongly about seeing these bands, plus Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, finally perform live again after several years of pandemic-related delays. We'd estimate people were 75% supportive of the effort, while others felt that Mötley Crüe should either call it a day or at least replace singer Vince Neil. Of course, the band is doing neither, although there is an ongoing rumor about guitarist John 5 replacing Mick Mars. (Update: The rumor is now fact.)
At the end of it all, the nostalgia for 1980's hair metal still runs strong on this continent, but how will other people around the world react? Will it matter that Poison and Joan Jett are apparently not returning for Round 2?
If you're reading this from outside the U.S., we'd love to hear your thoughts about this mega-tour heading your way next year. Are you rushing to buy your tickets now, or will you avoid this whole carnival? Who would you like to see as the opening acts? Either drop us a line at [email protected], or comment on our Facebook page.
For now, we leave you with some videos from the 2022 shows:
