Tuesday Clutter: Elizabeth Warren, David Ortiz, Facebook Portal, Dodgeball, Anton Yelchin, Kings of Leon, and more

Hi everyone,

Welcome back!  Come on in, have a seat.  How are you?  I got to sleep at a decent hour since there was no Stanley Cup Final game last night, and that was helpful.  Of course, it was a little challenging to get up this morning with the rain falling outside.  Of course, the plants are loving it, and if it drops the pollen count a bit, that's a bonus.  BDH and Little Buddha say it's supposed to clear up around noon.  That works.  In the meantime, let's check out today's headlines.  The guys made coffee, so grab yourself a nice medium DD, because it's time to clear out some Tuesday Clutter.

As the Democratic primary season heats up, you can count on voters being reminded that Elizabeth Warren stood up for consumers during a 2005 debate over bankruptcy revisions, and Joe Biden was on the side of the credit card companies.

It looks like we're going to be reopening the Big Papi News Desk for a little while:  David Ortiz is back in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital receiving follow-up care after being shot in the Dominican Republic on Sunday.  Doctors say that Big Papi suffered damage to his intestines, colon, and liver in the shooting.  Red Sox officials say Ortiz is in serious but stable condition.  As always, our thoughts go out to the Red Sox icon, and we hope he has a full a speedy recovery.  Meanwhile, we wait to hear more about the reason this all happened. A guy gets off a motorcycle, walks right up to Ortiz and shoots him in the back?  Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester is right - it sounds like a hit.

Facebook has new Portal devices coming out this fall. Our sympathy isn't going to be high for users who discover that the machines are violating their privacy in a hundred ways every day.  If you want to talk to someone, pick up your phone and dial the number instead of giving Mark Zuckerberg and company even greater access into your home and to your personal information.  Phones can do more than post Instagram pictures.

If you find yourself hungry in Concord, New Hampshire, Puppy Love Hot Dogs is a solid choice.  It's no accident they've been around for 43 years.

Monday was an ugly night at Fenway Park, as the Boston Red Sox lost 4-3 to the Texas Rangers in 11 innings. Chris Sale was outstanding once again, giving up just one run and three hits with 10 strikeouts over seven innings.  The Sox had a 2-1 lead going into the ninth, but Matt Barnes gave up two runs to blow the save.  Pinch-hitter Brock Holt drove in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth, but then Elvis Andrus had a RBI single off Ryan Brasier in the 11th, and that was all she wrote.

The Red Sox have 10 blown saves so far this year.  There will always be a few, but 10 of them is the difference between the Sox being in first place and them being eight games out in third place.  The team also has other issues, but they need to reexamine their closer options if they want to contend this year.  The Sox now turn to rookie pitcher Darwinzon Hernandez who makes his major league debut against the Rangers tonight.

The Golden State Warriors aren't finished just yet.  They hung on to beat the Toronto Raptors 106-105 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals last night, so now Toronto is up 3-2 in the series.  Will the Raptors be able to move past this narrow defeat and put away Golden State for the championship, or has momentum now switched to the Warriors?  Guess we'll see when Game 6 takes place on Thursday night.

Former NFL star Kellen Winslow II has been found guilty of rape, indecent exposure, and lewd behavior in three different incidents, but his jury remains deadlocked on six additional charges.  The trial judge ordered the jury to continue deliberating to see if they can break the stalemate.  Winslow is looking at a sentence of at least three years in prison on the rape conviction, but we'll have to see what happens with the remaining offenses.

James Corden's Late Late Show is doing a celebrity dodgeball match this month which includes Clutter favorite Benedict Cumberbatch, Michelle Obama, Allison Janney, and Mila Kunis, among others.  Apparently no one here heard that dodgeball was recently found to be "oppressive" and "dehumanizing" in a recent study. Something 98% of the people who have ever played the game could have told researchers right from the start.

This upcoming documentary about the late actor Anton Yelchin looks like it might be interesting.  Yelchin died in 2016 at age 27 in what was described as "a freak accident" when he was found pinned between his car and a brick pillar outside his house.   Love Antosha will be released in August.  Check out the trailer:

Okay kids, that's going to do it for now.  Here's Kings of Leon to close things out with, "Sex on Fire," for today's, "Song of the Day."

Thanks for stopping by, everyone.  It was great to see you, as always.  Enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll catch up with you again for more fun soon.  Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
