Thursday Clutter: Trump, Jessica Biel, David Ortiz, Boston Bruins, Queen, and more
06/13/2019
Hi everyone,
Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. BDH and Little Buddha were just consoling me about the Stanley Cup Final. As they point out, I should be able to get back to a more consistent sleep schedule now that hockey is over. Those two always do a tremendous job of keeping things in perspective. They also make great coffee. Speaking of which, there's a fresh pot on the table, so grab yourself a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Thursday Clutter.
Donald Trump admitted in a televised interview with George Stephanopoulos that he wouldn't feel obligated to report it to the FBI if a foreign government offered him dirt on a political opponent, and that he doesn't consider that election interference:
"It's not an interference, they have information -- I think I'd take it," Trump said. "If I thought there was something wrong, I'd go maybe to the FBI -- if I thought there was something wrong. But when somebody comes up with oppo research, right, they come up with oppo research, 'oh let's call the FBI.' The FBI doesn't have enough agents to take care of it. When you go and talk, honestly, to congressman, they all do it, they always have, and that's the way it is. It's called oppo research."
To review, Donald Trump has no problem with being the puppet of a country interfering in our elections, he just invited every country to do it, and he and his supporters are all traitors to the United States.

The House Oversight Committee voted to approve resolutions holding Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt yesterday over their refusal to comply with subpoenas to provide the committee documents related to a controversial proposed census question. That's fine, but it's unclear whether or not these resolutions will go to the House for a full vote, and where we go from here. The Trump administration is in contempt of Congress as a body, Trump openly admits he'd collude with a foreign government (again) to win an election, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi has already indicated she thinks he is a criminal, but she still somehow seems allergic to opening an impeachment inquiry. It looks like we've got a lot of empty gestures happening at the moment.
It turns out that actress Jessica Biel is part of the anti-vaccination cult. These people are a public health threat to the country.
Here's the latest from the Big Papi News Desk: Six people have now been arrested in the shooting of David Ortiz last Sunday. The alleged gunman is in that group, and authorities say there was an $8000 bounty to kill Big Papi, but a motive and the name of the person behind the plot still haven't been released. The story just gets more insane by the day. Meanwhile, Ortiz continues to recover at Mass General Hospital.
This wasn't what we were hoping for: The Boston Bruins lost 4-1 to the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals last night. The Bruins never found an answer for rookie goalie Jordan Binnington who blocked 32 of 33 shots. The Bruins were down 2-o at the end of the first period, and it felt like more than that. It was a hell of a run for the B's, and it came up just short. We expect that the Bruins will be looking for payback over how the Blues played this series the next time the two teams play a regular season game, but hey, congratulations to the Blues fans on winning the first Stanley Cup in team history.
The Boston Red Sox beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 yesterday thanks to a walk-off walk by Mookie Betts in the ninth inning. Boston outfielder Andrew Benintendi had himself a day, going 3-4 with 2 RBI. Rick Porcello gave up just two runs over 6 2/3 innings. The Rangers tied the game up in the top f the eighth. Christian Vazquez, Jackie Bradley Jr., and Michael Chavis all reached base to start off the bottom of the ninth for the Sox. It was the kind of situation that felt like it would lend it it self to a winning grand slam, but hey, a win is a win, no matter how you get there. David Price takes the mound for Boston as the Sox try to split the series with the Rangers tonight.
Kyrie Irving fired his longtime agent and is reportedly hoping to be represented by Roc Nation. Does that mean the Boston Celtics star is one step closer to joining the Brooklyn Nets? All we're asking for is Irving to make his announcement on June 30, which is the first day of free agency in the NBA. End the soap opera quickly and let Danny Ainge and the C's do whatever they need to do to get ready for next season.
Okay kids, that's going to do it for now. Here's Queen to close things out with, "I Want to Break Free," for today's, "Song of the Game."
Thanks for stopping by, everyone. It was a treat to see you, as always. BDH and Little Buddha want you to know you're still welcome to come back later, even though hockey is finished. The guys would love to watch tonight's Sox game with you if you're around. No pressure. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll catch up with you again for more fun soon. Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
