No Doctor Who This Christmas?

Update:  It's official - The Doctor and friends are moving to New Year's Day.

While it's a little bit surprising, we admit to not being crushed by reports that there will not be a Doctor Who Christmas special this year.  Before you start throwing tomatoes at us, we have enjoyed almost all of the previous specials, but if the powers-that-be want to shake things up by making a New Year's-focused episode instead, we're excited to see what they can do with that premise.

Also, from a selfish perspective, it's been increasingly difficult for us to watch the shows live on Christmas Day, what with all of the family-related running around and what have you.  On the other hand, the end of the year is a quiet time around Clutter Headquarters, and we'd love the chance to grab some snacks, settle in on the couch, and close out 2018 with our favorite Time Lord.  Of course, as soon as it's over, we'll start marking the days until the premiere of series 12.

What about you?  Are you shaking your fist and grumbling about this reported change in the schedule, or are you looking forward to hopefully a new Doctor Who tradition?

Doctor Who Christmas Special November 5 2018Don't be alarmed, but the holidays might look a bit different this year.  (pic via blogtorwho.com)
