Wednesday Clutter: Trump, Obama, MGM Resorts International, Memories, MLB All-Star Game, Bohemian Rhapsody, Stranger Things, and more
07/18/2018
Hi everyone,
Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you? I had a much better night's sleep last night, so I'm ready to go today. Gotta thank BDH and Little Buddha for looking after everything yesterday while I was basically reduced to just watching the rain. They're the best. The garden got a solid soaking on Tuesday, so the flowers should be good for the rest of the week. It also looks like the temperatures are going to be a bit more reasonable for a while, so that's also a win. The guys say the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Wednesday Clutter.
Donald Trump is desperately trying to put out the fire from his shameful press conference with Vladimir Putin on Monday. Trump now claims he "misspoke" when he said Russia didn't interfere int the 2016 presidential election, which means he meant to say, "I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia." Yeah, those double negatives can be challenging. The man has lied over 3000 times since he moved into the White House, so we'll just add this to the never-ending list and continue to ask if anyone in the GOP will ever defend our country against this traitor. If not, voters will take Republicans out on November 6 (now less than 16 weeks away) and replace them with people who will do their job for the American people.
Russia says they're ready to implement the security agreements Donald Trump approved. Say what now? We agree with Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) who says the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committee should hold a hearing and have Trump's interpreter tell them what exactly happened in this meeting. After all, we have a right to know if we've been annexed.
Robert Mueller reportedly wants to give five witnesses immunity in the upcoming Paul Manafort trial. Who are these people, and what might they have to tell us?
While Donald Trump continued to humiliate himself and the United States on the global stage, Barack Obama offered a defense of facts and democracy while giving a speech in South Africa honoring the late Nelson Mandela. We're just wondering who Obama might have been referring to with this quote:
“People just make stuff up,” he said. “They just double down and lie some more. Politicians have always lied, but it used to be that if you caught them lying, they’d be like, ‘Oh, man.’ Now they just keep on lying!”
Give us a minute, we'll figure it out.
Why can't we have leaders like this? (pic via spokesman.com)
Elon Musk tweeted an apology for calling one of the guys who helped rescue those boys from Thai cave a "pedo." The tweet still manages to assign some blame for the incident to Vernon Unsworth. If we were Tesla investors, we'd still get our money as far away from Musk as we can, because how could you trust a guy who behaves like this?
MGM Resorts International is suing the victims of last year's horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas in order to make sure those folks don't turn around and sue them for security lapses. That's outrageous, and hopefully the casino's suit will be thrown out of court. We also encourage any of you who are traveling to Las Vegas to stay at a different hotel. These people should pay a financial price for this disgraceful action.
A new study says your first memory might be wrong. We were just talking about the fallibility of memory yesterday. While the study says otherwise, we still think our first one is right. It's just a blurry image, but it's there. The article also indicates that some people believe memories before age seven can't be trusted, but we don't buy it.
Congratulations to the American League for beating the National League 8-6 in last night's MLB All-Star Game. The two leagues combined for a record 10 home runs in the game. When we were kids, that National League used to dominate this contest, but the American League has been on a roll for years and now actually leads 44-43-2 against their counterparts. We're just glad this isn't for World Series home field advantage anymore. It's an entertaining exhibition game. Now everyone can enjoy a few more days off, and then the Boston Red Sox go back to work against the Detroit Tigers on Friday.
It sounds like the Manny Machado speculation might be ending soon. The Baltimore Orioles shortstop is rumored to be heading to either the Los Angeles Dodgers (or maybe the Philadelphia Phillies) as soon as the details of a trade are finalized.
What a shocker: Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr received a contract extension. Who could have seen that coming? The details were not announced, but congratulations to Kerr on his well-earned new deal.
There's a new trailer for the upcoming Queen movie, Bohemian Rhapsody. Let's take a peek:
Hold on, we've also got a trailer for the next season of Stranger Things:
Not sure what that was all about (and why we can't fix all of the empty space before it), but hey, we're always up for a trip to the mall.
Supermodel Elle Macpherson is dating the doctor who founded the anti-vaccine movement? Gross. Former doctor Andrew Wakefield has caused tremendous harm with his nonsense.
Okay kids, that's going to do it for now. Let's have Freddie Mercury and the rest of Queen close things out with some, "Radio Ga Ga," for today's, "song of the Day."
Thanks for stopping by, everyone. It was great to see you, as always. Enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll meet back here again for more fun soon. Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
