Monday Clutter: Trump, Elon Musk, Amazon Prime Day, CVS, Boston Red Sox, Mandy Moore, Downton Abbey, Dio, and more

Hi everyone,

Welcome back!  How are you?  We were just checking out the weather forecast for today.  Looks like it's going to be generally cloudy, but there's not that much of a chance of rain.  Do you think I have to water the garden this afternoon?  I probably have to water the garden this afternoon.  Speaking of the garden, I was sitting out there last night, enjoying the view, when I was joined by a rather large toad.  He hopped over and sat in front of me for about 20 minutes, just relaxing.

I brought him a bowl of water in case he was thirsty, but he just sat there.  He then went behind me and stayed still for about another 20 minutes, before I had to go inside.  I hope he's okay.  I asked BDH and Little Buddha if they wanted a pet toad.  They're too polite to say no, but they just sat there smiling and not saying a word, so I got the picture.  Anyway, the guys made you all some coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Monday Clutter.

Donald Trump set the stage for his meeting with Vladimir Putin today by blaming the United States for bad relations with Russia.  At this point, we're half-expecting the Great Pumpkin to announce that the two countries are merging.  Given the ever-increasing number of indictments being handed out in the Mueller investigation, perhaps Trump should take this opportunity to ask Putin for asylum.  That's silly, of course.  He couldn't handle being separated from Ivanka.

In a sign of the new world, State Sen. Kevin de León won the endorsement of the California Democratic Party over longtime incumbent Senator Dianne Feinstein.  The humiliating defeat comes from progressive activists in the state looking for a more aggressive challenge to Donald Trump.  De Leon still trails in the polls, but it's already clear that "business as usual" is not going to fly with voters this year, so stay tuned.

First we find out he's one of the top donors to the House GOP PAC, and now Elon Musk is accusing one of the men who helped rescue the boys from that Thai cave of being a pedophile.  If we were Tesla shareholders, we'd be cashing out right now, because there's no way we'd trust this guy with our money.

Amazon Prime Day starts at 3:00 this afternoon.  There are all sorts of deals for Prime members, but we're probably just going to check to see if anything on our wish list is on sale.   BDH and Little Buddha also think we should look to see if there are any deals on coffee.  Those two are always thinking.

CVS was forced to apologize for a Chicago store manager who called the police on an African American woman because he thought she was using a phony coupon.  Is there a single person who is surprised to find out that the manager was a Trump delegate in 2016?  Racists in this country feel empowered to call the police on anyone who isn't white, because the Nazi-in-Chief encourages them on a regular basis with his hateful words and deeds.

The Boston Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-2 yesterday to close out the first half of the season on a winning note.  Of course, it's a little misleading to call it the first "half," since there are only 64 games left after the All Star break.  If the 68-30 Sox play .500 ball for the rest of the way, they'd still end the year with 100 wins.  We're not assuming anything, just saying that's remarkable.  Yesterday's win came thanks to 4 2/3 innings of two-run ball from Brian Johnson who was supported by five members of the bullpen.

The big names in the lineup were quiet on Sunday, but the bottom end came through, as Brock Holt, Sandy Leon and Jackie Bradley Jr. went a combined 5-9 with 3 RBI.  We also have to point out that JBJ is now batting .210, which is not impressive by itself, except that he was around .170 just a couple of weeks ago.  Here's hoping he can continue that momentum for the rest of the way, because him turning into any kind of presence at the plate is almost the equivalent of the Red Sox making a trade.  The Red Sox are now off until Friday, when David Price will take the mound against the Detroit Tigers, which means our staff now has some free time on our hands.  Who wants to see a movie?

The news isn't great on Boston Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, although it could be worse.  Rodriguez went on the DL with a right ankle sprain, and it sounds serious, but surgery isn't needed at this time.  However, manager Alex Cora is talking about being hopeful that E-Rod will pitch again "at some point" this year, which means that the Sox may need to think about looking for some starting pitching help before the trade deadline.

What fresh nonsense is this?  Keanu Reeves now says Bill and Ted 3 might not happen after all, because of business issues.  Bogus.

This is Us star (and New Hampshire native) Mandy Moore is returning to the music studio for her first album since 2009.  Given her previous success as a singer, plus her current TV fan base, we see this album doing very well.

We can think of a number of people who must be thrilled that there's going to be a Downton Abbey movie.  Our only real question at the moment is, how will this story fit into the Marvel Universe?

Okay kids, that's going to do it for now.  Let's make sure we get this week started on the right note.  Here to close things out for us is one of the greatest heavy metal vocalists of all-time.  We give you another New Hampshire star, the one and only Ronnie James Dio and company with, "Rainbow in the Dark," for today's, "Song of the Day."

Thanks for stopping by, everyone.  It was great to see you, as always.  BDH and Little Buddha want you to know they were serious about seeing a movie if you're in the mood.  Just nothing too scary, they don't like having bad dreams.  Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your  day, be good, and we'll meet up again for more fun soon.  Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
