Thursday Clutter: Trump, Michael Cohen, Boston Red Sox, Steve Carell, Bryan Adams, and more

Hi everyone,

Welcome back!  How are you?  Happy first day of summer!  BDH and Little Buddha were just telling me about their dreams last night.  Apparently they were friends with our local birds who gave them the scoop about everything and everyone in the neighborhood.  They also told them that the Clutter Tree was their most favorite tree in the area, and really, who could disagree with that?  I don't remember my dreams, but I don't think they were as much fun.  Anyway, the guys also made you some coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Thursday Clutter.

Donald Trump signed an executive order ending the policy of separating migrant children from their families yesterday.  Wait, you mean he was lying when he said only Congress could fix that?  Color us shocked.  Whatever a person's political affiliations, to believe a word that comes out of the Great Pumpkin's mouth is to be an idiot.  Anyway, the order doesn't say anything about reuniting the children who have already been snatched from their parents, and the administration will continue the policy of jailing these families, so we haven't resolved anything here.

Michael Cohen resigned as the deputy finance chair of the Republican National Committee's Finance Committee yesterday, and perhaps more tellingly, Cohen took a swipe at Trump's immigration policy in his resignation letter.  Is this a sign of Trump's former personal attorney's willingness to cooperate with the Mueller investigation?

Meanwhile, the publisher of the National Enquirer has been subpoenaed in the Michael Cohen case to find out if Cohen coordinated with the tabloid to quiet former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal about her alleged affair with Donald Trump.

Congratulations to the Massachusetts Legislature for approving a bill establishing a $15 minimum wage as well as a paid family leave law.

The Boston Red Sox lost 4-1 to the Minnesota Twins last night.  David Price gave up three runs over six innings, but the Sox offense continues to struggle, as Boston only had four hits on the night and went 0-9 with men in scoring position, a problem which also plagued them in the first game of this series.  Maybe the length of this 10-game road trip is getting to the hitters.  Rick Porcello takes the mound for the Red Sox this afternoon as they try to avoid being swept

The Phillie Phanatic accidentally drilled a fan with a hot dog this past Monday night.  It's a promotion that the team has been running for years, and it's surprising this is the first time someone got hurt.  Fortunately, Kathy McVay wasn't injured too badly, and she seems to have taken it all in stride, but maybe it's time to pull the plug on this gimmick.

We generally don't think of Steve Carrell movies as "must-see," but Welcome to Marwen may change that:

As mentioned earlier this week that the Creed II trailer finally came out.  Let's take a look:

Oh yeah, we're in on that.  How about you?

We're sorry to hear that professional wrestling legend Vader died on Monday.  Vader (real name: Leon White) was a tremendous big man who fought all of the top names around the world for close to 30 years.  He had a "stiff" style, and it always looked like he was killing his opponents.  Vader had been dealing with heart issues over the last few years, and succumbed to pneumonia on Monday.  Our condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans.  Vader was 63 years old.

Okay kids, that's going to do it for now.  Given that it's the first day of summer, we've got no choice but to close things out with Bryan Adams', "Summer of 69," for today's, "Song of the Day."

Thanks for stopping by, everyone.  It was great to see you, as always.  BDH and Little Buddha want you to know that you're welcome to come back this afternoon if you want to watch the Red Sox game with them.  After that, they're going to crack open their new books just in time for the start of summer reading season, so they'd also be happy to read to you if you like.  Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll see you back here again for more fun soon.  Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
