Monday Clutter: Trump, Amazon, iPhone, Boston Red Sox, Adele, White Zombie, and more
06/25/2018
Hi everyone,
Welcome back! How are you? It looks like we got another round of rain last night which is good for the garden. I thought it was supposed to rain until this afternoon, but the sun's already out, which means BDH, Little Buddha, and I can get an earlier start on today's to-do list. The birds are chirping pretty loudly this morning. BDH says they're asking if we remembered to make the coffee. Have no fear, friends. There's a fresh pot sitting on the counter, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Monday Clutter.
Donald Trump is doubling down on his racism, saying that undocumented immigrants should be immediately returned to their home country without a chance to appear before a judge. The Great Pumpkin tweeted, "“We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country...When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came. Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order.” That's an illegal an unconstitutional approach to immigration policy, but we all learned long ago that the mighty pumpkin has no use for such things, so we expect to see a court challenge. Also, this is a reminder that the mid-term elections are 134 days from today. Voting is more than a civic duty this year, it's a moral mandate.

Trump has a new Twitter enemy. This time it's...Jimmy Fallon. Can you imagine how much more damage the guy would be causing the country if he wasn't so obsessed with Twitter? Actually, he'd probably just spend the extra time fawning over Ivanka.
It's disappointing to see that Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey signed off on allowing municipalities to prohibit marijuana companies for a year without letting residents vote on the matter. Many state and local officials have been doing whatever they can to block/slow down a more rational drug policy in the Commonwealth ever since voters approved the legalization of recreational pot.
We admit we hadn't thought about this before, but it turns out there's an interesting reason why Amazon isn't listed in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, when the commerce giant seems like it would be a natural fit.
Rumors are there's a more "affordable" iPhone X on the way. Of course, being "cheaper" means that the starting price is still $600, although if you kept your phone for five years, that would only be about $10 a month.
Internet-connected technology is something we're looking to avoid having at Clutter Headquarters for as long as possible. It makes us sound like we're 80 years old, but a world where you make everything in your life even more dependent on computers feels like begging for trouble. This isn't our issue, but it turns out, these devices are also being used by harassers in domestic abuse cases.
Chris Sale has been on a role recently, but he didn't have much to show for it, thanks to a lack of run support. That was not the case on Sunday, as the Boston Red Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 5-0. Sale was electric, giving up just four hits and one walk to go with 13 strikeouts over seven innings to improve his record to 7-4 on the season. The Sox offense came through, with RBI from Mookie Betts, Sandy Leon, Rafael Devers, and Mitch Moreland (who hit a monster shot to dead center-field.) The Sox have today off, and then they start a series against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, with David Price taking the mound for Boston.
It was a long week for Hanley Ramirez, as first the former Boston Red Sox slugger was alleged to be part of a federal and state investigation, and then it turned out there was nothing to the story. We admit to retweeting the original rumor, because it seemed to be coming from a reliable news source, but we'll remember to be more cautious the next time a situation like that occurs. In the meantime, Ramirez is still looking for a new team after being released by the Sox on June 1.
Good news, Adele fans: It sounds like the singer is about to start working on her new album, which would reportedly come out next year.
Pierce Brosnan has a suggestion about who could be the next James Bond, and all we'll say is that this choice could get us interested in the franchise.
Okay kids, that's going to do it for now. Let's have White Zombie close things out with, "More Human Than Human," for today's, "Song of the Day."
Thanks for stopping by, everyone. We couldn't imagine a better way to start the week than by hanging out with all of you. Enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll see you again for more randomness soon. Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
