Wednesday Clutter: David Ortiz, Cardinal Law, TJ Miller, Ocean's 8, Christmas with the Devil, and more
Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you? We're all a little giddy here at the moment. First off, tomorrow is the shortest day of the year, so once we get through that, it's time to start adding on the sunlight! Yes, it's still only December, and it will still be dark around 4:30 in the afternoon, but 30 seconds here, and 30 seconds there, and suddenly it's not dark until 4:45! Every little bit helps, and we can't wait. The other big news is that BBC America's annual Doctor Who marathon has begun! We've got a handful of errands to do over the next few days, but other than that, it's binge-watching time. This is also a terrific chance to add some favorite episodes to the DVR library. So, all in all, things are good. Oh, and now I'm hearing that the coffee is ready. Help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Clutter.
David Ortiz is getting his own reality TV show? Sign us up! We promise to try to stay objective about Big Papi Needs a Job, but it seems safe to assume that this will be be one of the greatest television events of 2018 all time.

There's a little drama building with the New England Patriots, as Bill Belichick appears to be taking back control of player medical treatment from Alex Guerrero. We all know that Guerrero is Tom Brady's guru/business partner, so how's #12 going to handle this?
Cardinal Bernard Law died in Rome at age 86. There's only one thing Law will ever be known for, and that's his shameful role in protecting pedophile priests in the Boston Archdiocese. If this was a just world, Law would have spent the last 15 years in prison, rather than being protected in Italy, but at least he can't cause any further harm.
Senate Republicans passed their atrocious tax bill 51-48 yesterday. A reminder that "moderate" Republicans like Susan Collins (Maine) are still Republicans, and that party hates 99% of the country, so maybe in 2018, we can stop pretending that these politicians are decent people. The House then screwed up the vote on the bill and has to redo it today before it goes to Donald Trump. Tax cuts are the one thing the GOP cares about, and they still couldn't get the process right. The public knows this bill is awful, and Democrats better hang it on Republican necks for the next 11 months. Bring on the mid-term elections.
The next time someone tries to tell you that your vote doesn't matter, remember the story of the Virginia House of Delegates, which appears to have switched from Republican to Democratic control by, yes, a single vote. Government is decided by the people who show up, so be one of them.
We're sorry to hear that the Sunset Grill & Tap has closed. We spent a few hours there in our youth, and the food and beer choices were always solid. We also played Dad Clutter in a number of pool games upstairs, and if memory serves us correctly, he won approximately all of them...by a wide margin...
Facebook's facial recognition program will now tell you about pictures you're in, even if you haven't been tagged in them, because that's not creepy or anything.
Derek Jeter held a Festivus meeting with 200 Miami Marlins season ticket holders on Tuesday to allow for an airing of grievances, and there's plenty to be unhappy about for those fans. Jeter's new ownership group has been holding a fire sale since acquiring the team.
The Green Bay Packers are officially out of the playoffs, so the team shut down Aaron Rodgers for the rest of the season. No point in risking him re-injuring his collarbone this year. That's too bad, NFC playoff football is better with Rodgers.
Comedian TJ Miller has been accused of sexually assaulting his college girlfriend in the early 2000's. Miller denies the claim, but others have reportedly corroborated the story.
The first trailer for the upcoming Ocean's 8 is out! The comments on YouTube are predictably misogynistic garbage, and there seems to be some uproar over James Corden making an appearance, but this looks like fun to us. What do you think?
Okay kids, that's going to do it for now. Let's have Spinal Tap close things out here with their rendition of a classic holiday tune. We speak of course of, "Christmas with the Devil," for today's, "Song of the Day."
Thanks for stopping by, everyone. It was great to see you, as always. Of course, you're welcome to come back later if you want to watch the Doctor Who marathon with us. BDH and Little Buddha would be happy to answer any questions you have about any of the episodes. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll meet up again for more fun soon. Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
