2017 Best of Clearing out the Clutter
Doctor Who: Twice Upon A Time

Saturday Clutter: New England Patriots, Doctor Who, Facebook, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, and more

Hi everyone,

Welcome back!  Merry Christmas Eve Eve!  How are you?  Well, we weren't planning on sorting through the headlines today, but the weather has thrown a wrench into our travel plans.  BDH and Little Buddha only needed to read one article urging drivers to stay off the roads if possible, before they took off their winter coats and hats and headed off to make some coffee.  Speaking of which, I'm being told it's ready to go, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Saturday Clutter!

By the way, don't forget to check out this year's "Best of Clutter!"  Let us know if you think we missed anything.

Since tomorrow's travel might keep us from hanging out on Christmas Eve let's talk football now.  The New England Patriots play the Buffalo Bills in Foxboro at 1:00 on Sunday.  Both teams have a lot on the line, so this should be a good game.  The Patriots are fighting to keep their lead on the Pittsburgh Steelers for the #1 seed in the AFC.  Meanwhile, the Bills are both looking for their first playoff appearance in almost 20 years, as well as perhaps seeking revenge on Rob Gronkowski for his dirty hit a few weeks ago.  It should be close, but Tom Brady is 27-3 against the Bills, and we just don't see him losing this one at home, even with the current controversy regarding Brady's trainer/business partner Alex Guerrero.

Steven Wright's domestic violence case may have been dealt with in the courts for now, but Major League Baseball still has the power to suspend him, and we support whatever punishment the commissioner's office may decide to hand out.  Either way, the Boston Red Sox should be looking for a new fifth starter.

The Doctor Who Christmas Special is now just two days away!  That's bringing up all sorts of feelings, but for the moment, let's focus on the fact that departing star Peter Capaldi has a fantastic answer regarding the Doctor's real name.  This is a guy who truly "gets" the show, which is no surprise, since he's a lifelong fan.  We're excited to see where Jodie Whittaker takes the show, but we still would have loved just one more year with Capaldi's Doctor.

Facebook has a new tool to tell users if they liked or followed a page that promoted Russian propaganda.  It's a start, we guess, but it doesn't address anything that may have shown up in the news feed through comments or sharing, nor does it include ads.  (Don't worry, we promise our Facebook fans that we're not a Russian plant.)

Republicans are increasingly panicking about the blue tidal wave heading their way in next year's mid-term elections, and they're looking to Democrats to bail them out.

Our condolences to Matt Damon on the recent death of his father.  Mr. Damon, who had been battling cancer, was 74 years old.

We're looking forward to the Roseanne revival next year.  Unlike some other shows that have come back from the dead, it feels like Roseanne Barr and company should have plenty of new material to work with, and we're curious to see what they do with it.

Okay kids, that's going to do it for now.  Let's have Leo Moracchioli close things out with a cover of, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," for today's, "Song of the Day."

Thanks for stopping by, everyone!  It was an early present to get to hang out with you today.  In case we don't see you tomorrow, safe travels to anyone else who is hitting the road, and we will definitely meet up again soon.  Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
