November 2017

Confession: We're starting to think about baseball around here. Yes, it's true, it's not even December, Tom Brady and company are gearing up for another Super Bowl run, and baseball doesn't begin for months. However, the first sign of the new season is on its way: The 2018 Boston Red Sox spring training tickets go on sale at 10am ET on Saturday, December 2. A trip to spring training is a perfect holiday gift for the Red Sox fan in your life. There's nothing like escaping the cold winter weather to enjoy a game or two at JetBlue Park. There... Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? It's the final day of November, huh? The staff has a lot to take care of in December. We should probably have a meeting later today and write out our to-do list so we don't miss anything. It would be good to end 2017 on a productive note. Of course, the first thing that would help us do that is some coffee. BDH and Little Buddha have a fresh pot ready to go, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Thursday Clutter. Donald Trump had a particularly... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Wednesday to you all! How's your week going? I was just writing out a grocery list. Gonna have to stock up on some soft foods after the dentist on Friday. BDH and Little Buddha seem eager to have more yogurt in the house, so we'll probably load up on those. Otherwise, it's business as usual here at the moment. The guys say the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Clutter. Here's your daily reminder that Donald Trump supports a child molester. Sexual predators... If you're looking for a holiday gift for the Doctor Who fan in your life, consider Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor Complete Year One (CYO), just released by Titan Comics. Number 12 is in peak Scottish behavior, and Clara Oswald matches him every step of the way. This book takes place in season 8, sometime after "The Caretaker," and it runs through the 2014 Christmas Special. Before we go any further, your humble reviewer has to admit a strong preference for the Doctor of seasons 9 and 10, longer hair, hoodie, and all. Season 8 never completely clicked for us... Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you? Things are fine here at the moment. BDH and Little Buddha continue to try to take my mind off Friday's trip to the dentist. I better find some soft foods when I go to the grocery store this week. Other than that, I'm amazed once again how quickly November has gone by. The last week in particular feels like it was about two days long. In any case, we're plugging away. I hear that the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and... Read more →

Pro wrestling is built on a solid foundation of make-believe. Overgrown men loudly threaten to beat each other up over a fictional dispute in a match with a predetermined ending. When done well, it's a soap opera crossed with a rock concert, and it's entertaining as hell. However, there's a subset of wrestling fans who know that the industry itself has its own fascinating stories to tell, and the reality tops the fantasy every time. There's a passionate market for what are known as "shoot interviews," where these behind-the-scenes stories are shared. A number of companies and individuals do these... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, make yourself at home. How are you? I just realized that I'll probably have to skip coffee for a few days after my gum surgery later this week. That's not going to be pretty. BDH and Little Buddha are brainstorming what else I might be able to have while I recover, but so far, the only option is water at room temperature. Sweet. Oh well, it will be good to get this over with, and besides, that's still a few days away. For now, we've got a fresh pot of coffee ready to... Read more →

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri is a chaotic, violent, funny, angry, heart-wrenching movie. It's also slightly insane, which makes it an apt film for today's world. Frances McDormand stars as Mildred Hayes, a mother still mourning the brutal rape and murder of her teenage daughter Angela. Seven months have passed, and no arrests have been made. Hayes acts on her frustration by putting up messages on, you guessed it, three billboards, calling out Sheriff Bill Willoughby, played by Woody Harrelson. Sheriff Willoughby is a well-meaning man who is battling his own challenges. One of his professional responsibilities is managing racist... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you doing on your holiday shopping? I have a few friends who are already done with theirs, which is a notion I can't wrap my arms around. I consider it a win if I'm finished before December 23. However, I have started my usual brainstorming, which has already led to one neat idea, so I'm pleased with that. Of course, the biggest challenge is finding things for BDH and Little Buddha, especially clothes. It will all work out before the 23rd, though. Also, don't forget that you can... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you? Everyone here is still buzzing about our new shop. BDH and Little Buddha have been working on that for ages, and they're so excited that you finally get to see it! It's really an early Christmas present for them to get to show off their efforts. They're in charge of the shop going forward, but they want you to know that they're still going to be hanging out with us while we check out the news of the day. In fact, I'm being told that they've got... Read more →
