The members of Linkin Park just released the episode of Carpool Karaoke that they did with Ken Jeong earlier this year. Watching this show takes on an entirely different tone than was originally intended, given that it was filmed on July 14, 2017, just six days before lead singer Chester Bennington committed suicide.
Bennington drives the car, with Jeong in the passenger seat, and bandmates Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn sitting in the back. Jeong can be both funny and grating as an actor, and it's the same in this case. He continually rips on Shinoda right from the start, but there's an infectious group laughter in the car. Shinoda takes the attacks in good humor, and Hahn generally looks like he's wondering what he signed up for here.
It's fun to watch these guys singing their songs, as well as tunes from Outkast and the Red Hot Chili Peppers as they drive down the street, (although as Bennington later notes, he spends an awful long time with his hands off the steering wheel.) They seem to be having a great time. However, it suddenly gets a little emotional when Bennington talks about what he wants for his kids and how filming this show, "is probably the greatest day of my life."

Carpool Karaoke is an entertainingly silly show. One can only hope that Chester Bennington really had as much fun as he seemed to during this filming. Thank you to his family and the band for releasing this touching tribute.
