Saturday Clutter: Boston Red Sox, Rose McGowan, Condom Sizes, Psychedelic Mushrooms, Guns N' Roses and Pink, and more

Hi everyone,

Welcome back!  Come on in, have a seat.  How are you?  Any big plans for the weekend?  Nothing too crazy on this end besides another round of cutting back the garden and raking leaves.  We're a crazy crew, I tell you.  Speaking of the team, BDH and Little Buddha tell me that the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Saturday Clutter.

The Red Sox season is over, but we're not lacking for off-season discussions.  Chad Finn addresses a recurring question about whether or not the Sox should trade Xander Bogaerts.  The shortstop certainly had an off-year, but is that enough of a reason to move him?  The view here is that 2018 should be a reset for a number of these guys.  The only close-to-untouchable position players on the team are Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Rafael Devers, and Christian Vazquez.  After that, everyone is on the table, but only if the team gets fair value in return.  The Red Sox should listen carefully if they get an offer of an All Star level player, but short of that, Bogaerts shouldn't be dumped over one bad season.

Donald Trump said he spoke to "the President of the Virgin Islands" this week.  That would be him.  He meant Governor Kenneth Mapp, but the slip is just another reminder of how far Trump is in over his head in this job.

The IRS has frozen the new contract it just awarded to Equifax after facing heavy criticism for hiring the credit agency with the massive data breach to help the agency with their account security.

We're a touch on the superstitious side around here.  It's mostly connected to wearing the "right" clothes and performing the "right" activities while watching playoff games.  Nothing too crazy, but we would probably have paused before boarding Flight 666 to Hel on Friday the 13th.  There weren't any incidents on the flight, but really, that's just pushing your luck.

Actress Rose McGowan's Twitter account has become a must-follow as she leads the charge against Harvey Weinstein and sexism in Hollywood in general.

A new study indicates that psychedelic mushrooms might provide a short-term benefit for people suffering from severe depression.  More research needs to be done, but we're on board with any treatment that can help people in this terrible situation.

The adult obesity rate in the United States is at an all-time high, with no indication that's going to stop any time soon.  There are of course a number of factors involved, but we once again repeat our support for soda taxes, and really taxes on any food or beverage with a high sugar content.  You might as well drink rat poison when you have a soda, so let's tax them both to discourage consumption and further fund anti-obesity efforts.

A standard condom is apparently too big for the average American male (no judgment), but there's a company that can help with that.

The Houston Astros beat the New York Yankees 2-1 in Game 1 of the ALCS last night.  We have no problem being Astros fans for the next few days.

Who have you got in the Los Angeles Dodgers - Chicago Cubs NLCS match-up?  We'll take the Cubs, but really, all we're really rooting for at this point is for the World Series winner to be anyone but the Yankees.  This year has already had more than enough bad news, don't you think?

The New Mutants looks like it's more of a horror movie than anything else, so we're probably going to pass on this:

Yeah, no thanks.

Okay kids, that's going to do it for now.  The Guns N' Roses tour is still rolling along.  Pink got in on the fun this week as she joined the band for, "Patience," and of course, the result is fantastic.  See for yourself with today's, "Song of the Day."

Thanks for stopping by, everyone.  It was great to see you, as always.  Enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll meet back here again for more fun soon.  Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we are outta here.
