Part 6 of the Lost Dimension story returns this week to find the 12th Doctor, Bill Potts, Nardole, Jenny, and a previous incarnation or two trying to figure out the source of the energy that's taken over UNIT and is spreading across the Earth.
We were not big fans of Lost Dimensions (Part 5), but the newest issue immediately gets this adventure back on track. It's fun to watch #12 engage in a bit of trickery before forcing his way into #10's TARDIS. Oh yes, that's right, this story is a tag team affair that we've been dreaming about for years. The exchange between the two Doctors is a terrific contracts of #10's almost childlike energy vs. #12's overwhelming Scottish-ness. Writer George Mann does a tremendous job capturing how the initial conversation between these two men would play out. We can only hope that the stars will someday align for Peter Capaldi and David Tennant to work together in a TV special, or at least a Big Finish audio production. However, Part 6 will do for now.
The artwork is on point, and the story moves at a brisk pace. One can hear Murray Gold's music playing in the background as the Doctors and Jenny investigate the ship that seems to be at the center of the storm being caused by the white voids. The trio runs into danger along the way (of course), when they are suddenly joined by another character. No names here, but we'd pay a little extra if this individual ever joined the aforementioned Capaldi/Tennant production.
Part 6 is an entertaining page-turner that will keep you engaged from start to finish and leave you eager for more. Now, it looks like Part 7 and Part 8 are both being released next week. Part 7 appears to tie back to Part 5, so we're hoping the adventures of the 4th Doctor and River Song pick up the pace from where they left off. Part 8 is the final chapter of the Lost Dimension saga, and we can't wait to see how it concludes. Join us for a look at both issues next week!
