Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How's your week going so far? No complaints on this end. It didn't rain like I was expecting it to yesterday, so I had some time to play in the garden, which is always great. I don't think it will be too much longer before the next wave of flowers arrives. Our newest book review was also posted yesterday, so all in all, it was a good day. Now, we move on to today's adventures. BDH and Little Buddha have a fresh pot of coffee ready to go, so help... Van Halen set the rock world on fire when they debuted in 1978. The band was a perfect mix of entertainment and musical chops, with David Lee Roth as the charismatic front man, Eddie Van Halen, who was a future guitar legend in the making, and Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony providing the rhythm. This southern California group was all about girls, parties and having as much fun as possible while taking over the world. The quest for domination continued until their eventual parting of the ways with Roth, and Noel Monk was there to see it all go... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? It's looking pretty grey out there right now. I didn't realize the forecast is mostly rain for the next 10 days. Hmm. well, it should be good for the Clutter Tree and the garden, even if I don't get to spend as much time playing in the dirt. As long as they're happy, that's what matters. Well, coffee also matters. There's a fresh pot ready to go, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Tuesday Clutter. David Price made his 2017 debut yesterday, and it went about... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? We hope you're having a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend, as we pause to remember those who were killed while serving in the military. It sounds like rain is in the forecast today. Maybe that's why the birds were chirping up a storm early this morning. There's a fresh pot of coffee ready to go, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Monday Clutter. The Boston Red Sox lost 5 - 0 to the Seattle Mariners yesterday, thus snapping their six-game winning streak. Rick Porcello was... Read more →

The Monks are back, and this time, they're here for real. They intend to rule the world, but only after they're invited. The Doctor, Bill, and Nardole need to find a way to stop them before consent is given. It's time for the second half of season 10 to begin! (Warning: Spoilers ahead.) Observations: This week's episode was co-written by Peter Harness and Steven Moffat. I'm torn on Harness. "Kill the Moon" from season 8 was not a great story on multiple fronts, but "The Zygon Invasion/Inversion" episodes from season 9 were tremendous. Of course, that was where we got... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, make yourselves comfortable. How are you? We are thrilled here, absolutely thrilled. Why's that? We found out yesterday that the Clutter Tree is not going to be removed! BDH, Little Buddha, and I had a party all afternoon and evening long after we got the news. The whole saga is a long story, and there's so much that could be said about it, but we're going to have to wait a little while to let it all sink in. Happy happy Friday! In other good news, the guys made a fresh pot of... Read more →

Full disclosure: If you're a new reader, be aware that Clearing out the Clutter is unabashedly pro-David Ortiz. Of course it began with the 2004 season, and we were in his corner without exception from that point forward. We created "The Big Papi News Desk" as a sign of support during his struggles on the field in 2009, and "the News Desk" ran until Ortiz's retirement in 2016. As the fates would have it, we were at Fenway Park for his final game, and it was an honor to be able to say goodbye and thank you. Now that we've... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? How's your week going so far? The repairman did his job quickly and smoothly yesterday, so I'm happy that went well. I was just looking at the forecast, and apparently we have more rain coming on Friday. That's fine, as far as the garden and Clutter Tree are concerned, but I'm supposed to be going to a Red Sox game that night. My last game was rained out, and I've never had that happen twice in a row before, so hopefully this won't be a first. Anyway, that's the latest from here. We've... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, make yourself comfortable. What's on your schedule for today? Nothing too crazy here, except there's a repair guy coming to take care of a couple of things, so that's good. My internal clock is adjusting again, as the sunrise keeps happening earlier and earlier. Younger me would not know what to say if I told him he's now more of a morning person (at least during spring/summer.) Of course, no matter what time I get up, the day starts the same way - with coffee. There's a fresh pot ready to go, so... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? How was your weekend? It was pretty good on this end. I had some quality time in the garden and also had a chance to go for a bike ride, so no complaints. There's a pretty solid rain falling here at the moment, which I think is supposed to last all day. That's fine, the plants could use it. Other than that, there's not much else to report. Oh, we have coffee, can't forget that. There's a fresh pot ready to go, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear... Read more →
