April 2017

The Doctor and Bill Potts travel to 1814 London this week. The good news is that people are enjoying a fair on a frozen Thames River. The bad news is that something is eating them. What's going on? Observations: I had this episode marked down as one of particular interest before the season started. Writer Sarah Dollard also penned last season's, "Face the Raven," which featured the sort-of-death of Clara Oswald. It was a strong story with a particularly intense final 15 minutes, so I was curious to see if Dollard could deliver again. "Thin Ice" is another good adventure... Read more →

Nine Concerts and a Lie - The Playlist

The current trending game on Facebook is to post a list of nine concerts you've actually seen, and to include a tenth as a lie to see if your friends can spot the fake. It was actually entertaining to come up with my list. BDH and Little Buddha spotted the false option right away, but they won't tell me how they did it. They just smile every time I ask. In any case, here's a little Clutter playlist to go with these bands: 1) Van Halen Yeah, I've definitely seen these guys. Let's see, there was a show in Maine,... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? BDH and Little Buddha woke up earlier than usual this morning, because they're so excited to hang out with you today. In case you haven't heard, they're rather big fans of yours. They've got a fresh pot of coffee ready to go, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Thursday Clutter. The good news is that things seem to be coming together for Rick Porcello. He had another positive outing last night, giving up five hits and two earned runs, while striking out nine, over 6 2/3... Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you? As expected, last night's Red Sox game was rained out. I never "like" to say that, but April games can be a bit of an endurance contest more than an entertainment experience. However, there's a July game against the Yankees to look forward to, so that's fine. In the meantime, we've got plenty of coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Wednesday Clutter. The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees will hopefully be able to play their first game... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? It looks like there's a lot of rain in the forecast for the next 24-36 hours. That's fine, because it will be good for both the garden and the Clutter Tree. The only downside is that I'm betting it will probably mean that my Red Sox game tonight will be cancelled, and I'd just rather be told that now, rather than having to wait all day for the announcement. Oh well. On the other hand, we've got plenty of coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? I hope you all had a good weekend. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the coffee is ready. Grab yourself a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Monday Clutter. The Boston Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-2 yesterday, thanks to home runs by Mookie Betts, Hanley Ramirez, and Mitch Moreland, as well as a terrific performance from Eduardo Rodriguez. Betts continues to have insane numbers against the Orioles, and one wonders if Baltimore might make a big run for him when he becomes a free agent simply... Read more →

There's still nothing exactly like the excitement of sitting down to watch a new Doctor Who adventure. This week, the Doctor and new companion Bill Potts travel into the future and discover a new Earth colony. That's exciting, but there's just one question: Where are all of the people? Observations: We plead guilty to having had some reservations about this week's episode, "Smile," before it began. Season 10 features a number of writers we enjoy, and so it seemed likely that Peter Capaldi's last season would generally feature some strong material. However, "Smile" writer Frank Cottrell-Boyce also wrote Season 8's,... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Happy Sunday. How's everyone doing? The garden looks great, although there's still a little bit of cleaning to do before the city starts picking up yard waste this week. All of the plants are about twice as tall as they were a few days ago, and the lawn is suddenly green again. Keep those April showers coming, I say! You know what else I say? We need coffee. Not some rainbow concoction with enough sugar in it to kill a horse. Just a nice black coffee, I say. (Of course, we have some milk and a... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Friday to you all. It looks like we've got rain in the forecast all day today, but that's fine. It will be good for both the Clutter Tree and the garden. The birds are chirping once again, so BDH and Little Buddha are set to spend the day bird watching, as usual. However, before they get to that, they want you to know that they made some coffee for you, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Clutter. The good news is that the Boston Red Sox... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? It's a pretty grey morning here, though I'm not sure if it's actually supposed to rain today. The birds are particularly chatty in the Clutter Tree this morning, and BDH and Little Buddha are staring intently out the window trying to figure out what they're saying. Those two are just too cute. As focused as they are on the birds, they want me to let you all know that they also made you a pot of coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Thursday Clutter. The...
