April 2016

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Friday to you all! BDH and Little Buddha have a fresh pot of coffee ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Clutter! The Boston Red Sox four-game winning streak came to an end with a 5-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves last night. Clay Buchholz once again struggled on the mound, giving up five runs over 6 2/3 innings. It's the fourth time in his first five starts this season that Buchholz has given up five runs. Of course, the eternal tease with Buchholz is that... Read more →

Who Forgot Their Underwear?

I constantly hear women complaining about "mansplaining" (particularly during election season), and "manspreading," (largely directed at guys who take up too much space on the T.) I'm pretty sure/hopeful that I'm not guilty of the former, but I'm positive I'm innocent when it comes to the latter. It's one thing if we're talking about Clutter Headquarters or the Northern Estate. Those are my spaces, and I'm the only one impacted by where things are located. Even so, I try to keep the mess fairly minimal. However, if we're talking about a location involving others (again, like the T), I try... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? We're fine on this end. BDH and Little Buddha were up particularly early this morning. They wanted to watch all of the birds who were chirping away in the Clutter Tree. It really does sound like quite the party. I'm pretty sure the two of them could sit and stare at that tree all day long. Guess that means I'm on coffee duty today. Speaking of which, it's just about ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Thursday Clutter! Boston Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright continues... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. It looks like it's going to be a nice day out there. How are you? Moving a little slowly on this end, but BDH and Little Buddha promised to make the coffee a little stronger than usual, so everything will be fine. Speaking of which, they tell me it's ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Wednesday Clutter. David Price gave the kind of performance last night that reminded everyone why the Boston Red Sox are paying him about $1 million per start.... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? It looks like we've got rain on the schedule for most of today. That's fine, because the garden could use a healthy soaking. I just looked outside, and there's a whole bunch of tulips that have noticeably grown further since yesterday. It's just amazing. I should have put a camera on the roof to make a time-lapse video of these plants. Anyway, we've got work to take care of here, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Tuesday Clutter. The Boston Red Sox got into Atlanta early... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? Did you have a good weekend? I had a great time playing in the garden. It was about four and a half hours of weeding, raking, and getting the old yard waste out of my garage and ready for pickup by the city. There's no gym workout that leaves me feeling as completely crippled from head to toe as garden time, and it's worth every minute of it. Of course there's still much more work to be done, but the 2016 gardening season is well underway! You know what this calls for? That's... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How's your weekend going so far? I spent a good part of yesterday helping Dad Clutter with some yard work, and now today is my turn to go play in the garden for a few hours! It really makes me a bit giddy to see everything starting to come together here. It's still mostly just green out there (apart from a couple of yellow tulips), but everything is considerably bigger than it was last week, and it will be bigger than this next week, and before you know it, we'll... Last Call: Prince

Hi kids, It's Friday afternoon, which means it's time to start packing up at Clutter Headquarters and get ready for the weekend. I've lost a fair amount of the last 24 hours watching Prince clips. Actually, half of that was just trying to find the videos, because he made it so hard to watch his music online, but the effort was so worth it. Song after song of funk, pop, jazz, and pure coolness. The word "genius" gets thrown around far too easily, but it's completely deserved here. In his honor, we've got a Prince triple play for today's, Last... Read more →

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called 'life.'" Of course, the big story of yesterday was the terrible news that Prince died at his home in Minneapolis. The legendary singer and musician was only 57 years old. The man was truly an original. There didn't seem to be an instrument he couldn't play, a style of music he couldn't master, or a lyric he wrote/sang that didn't make your heart ache and/or sound like sex personified. He was the last artist I can remember thinking of as "dangerous" (in a positive fashion), and he... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How's your week going? It's been generally productive on this end, but I'm feeling a little down at the moment, because I'm worried about the Clutter Tree again. His leaves don't seem to be really filling out as much as they should, and they're still more brown than green. BDH and Little Buddha keep telling me that it's still early and to give it more time, but I don't know. The tree is just such a large part of the beauty of Clutter Headquarters...The birds are chirping away like crazy again this morning. The certainly seem... Read more →
