Year-End Clutter

Hi everyone, It's funny, each Clutter starts the same way: With a blank screen. I usually have no idea what's going to fill up that space before I turn on the computer and BDH and Little Buddha make the coffee. It's an adventure to figure out that day's story. Sometimes the payoff is more rewarding than other times, but there's always the promise of what tomorrow will bring. So, for the last time this year, let's see what we've got. Help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's end the year with a little Clutter. Well, we finally made... Read more →

Note: It could be argued that there's a spoiler in the opening paragraph below. I think it's a key part of the review, so I'm going to leave it in, but if you're bothered by such things, you might want to wait to read this until after you've seen the movie. You have until the end of the next paragraph to figure out what you want to do here. No pressure. Also, before we get going, let's be clear about something. While based on real events, no one is claming this is a documentary. I'm sure that there were liberties... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in and make yourself comfortable as we head into the final stretch of 2014 (thankfully.) Any big plans for the last few days of the year? Dad Clutter and I are going back to the movies today, but other than that and going to the gym, I think it's going to be a quiet close to the year, which works for me. Oh, it sounds like the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Monday Clutter. All I can say is that it's no coincidence... Read more →

First words from Dad Clutter after we saw Wild: "Were you prepared for that movie?" Of course, Pop, I knew we were about to watch the tale of a woman struggling to find catharsis as she constantly battles jagged flashbacks after the death of her beloved mom. Why do you ask? There are so few actors and actresses that I ever really want to see right away when their new movies come out. Reese Witherspoon was one of them for a long time. I loved her in Pleasantville, Cruel Intentions, Election, Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama (seriously) and Walk the... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, make yourself comfortable. I was just talking to BDH and Little Buddha to make sure that everything is okay at Clutter Headquarters. What's your plan for today? I think Dad Clutter and I are going to the movies at some point, and I've also got some stuff to take care of around here, nothing too crazy. However, we've got work to do first, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Saturday Clutter. Studies indicate that in addition to the physical benefits, exercise may help with depression. This... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? I hope you all had a nice Christmas yesterday (if that's what you celebrate.) This a bit of a rough stretch on this end at the moment. There are a lot of Mom Clutter memories from December 25 through January 25 to get through, and so far, I'm getting my ass kicked. Yesterday got off to a terrible start, but it improved after I made my way to Dad Clutter's house, and then continued a long Christmas tradition of seeing my cousins (and their dogs!) last night. In any case, we continue to... Read more →

Classic Christmas Eve Clutter

Hi everyone, It's that time again. Merry Christmas Eve! Originally published: December 24, 2010 Hi Folks, Christmas Eve is finally here, and that can only mean one thing-- It's time for my most favorite Christmas email ever. People don't seem to forward funny emails as much as they used to, but I used to get this every year from friends back in the 1990's, and it still stands the test of time. I think this email really finds that fine line between Christmas dreams and Christmas reality. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, and may you... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, make yourself comfortable, dry off if you need to. Nothing says it's almost Christmas like some steady rain, huh? (BDH and Little Buddha, please go find the towels.) Thank you to everyone for the nice comments about the 2014 Best of Clutter that we posted yesterday. We're feeling a little relieved to get that one out of the way. We've got plenty to cover to today, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Tuesday Clutter. Peyton Manning was kind enough to give the New England Patriots an... Read more →

2014 Best of Clutter

Hi everyone, It's time once again for the annual "Best of Clutter" review. Normally, BDH, Little Buddha, and I get a kick out of this. So much randomness comes out of this large head on a daily basis, it's nice to sit back at the end of the year and see what the favorite bits were. Usually they're fun items like a Van Halen concert review, or something tied to the Boston Red Sox, or just some little observation that holds up months after writing. This year, there's no way for me to escape the fact that 2014 was defined... Read more →
