Hi everyone, Welcome back to Clutter Headquarters, and a happy Halloween to you all. What's everyone going to be this year? BDH and Little Buddha tell me they're going to be different incarnations of The Doctor, and they've already got their costumes. I asked where they got them from, but they just looked at me and smiled. I asked what they thought I should be, and they said, "The guy who gives us candy!" You see where I fit in the hierarchy here. Lucky for me, they only need about three pieces of candy each to be happy, which means... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? We're moving a little slowly around Clutter Headquarters this morning. We were up late for Game 7 of the World Series, and by the time we finally fell asleep, it felt like the alarm clock went off five minutes later. It didn't help that it was still dark out when we woke up. Anyway, BDH and Little Buddha say the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Thursday Clutter. Congratulations to the San Francisco Giants who beat the Kansas City Royals 3-2 last night... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. Come on in, make yourself comfortable. It's nice to be back at Clutter Headquarters for a little bit. I really appreciate what a good job BDH and Little Buddha do of looking after the place while I'm gone. I have to head back to the Northern Estate soon to finish raking the leaves, because I'm not sure when the city will pick them up. I think I saw snow in the forecast, but I'm hoping I read that wrong due to lack of coffee. Speaking of which, my friends tell me they have a fresh pot... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? Week off to a good start so far? I made solid progress with the leaves yesterday. I still have to get them out of the flower beds, which seems a little tricky, but the majority of the lawn is clear...unless the wind blows everything back around the house again. I also managed to do a small food shopping so I don't have to eat out for every meal while I'm at the Northern Estate. I hope the drop in business won't hurt the local sub shop too much. Hold on, I have a... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? I've been at the Northern Estate for the last few days. I was under the impression that I had to finish raking the leaves by the end of this week to make sure the city would pick them up. Apparently I misunderstood, because the pick-up doesn't even start until next week, and it goes until early December. Oh well, I would have been here anyway, so that's fine. I've done several rounds of it already, and there is still much more to be done, so at least I have more time now. However,... Read more →

Sunday Clutter: Fighting the 4th Quarter

My last conversation with Mom Clutter ended at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014. I called her at 1:00 in the afternoon on Saturday the 25th and got her voice mail. I hoped there was some chance she went to the movies, as she had done on so many Saturday afternoons. By 4:00, I knew I was waiting for a call from Dad Clutter. My stomach began to hurt in a way that's hard to describe. All I can say is that the pain raced straight into my heart, and I would have given anything to make it... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Happy Friday to you all. I don't know about you, but Thursday was an odd day around here. I was pretty much off my schedule for the entire day, but I still somehow managed to take care of what I needed to do. I guess style points don't matter as long as you're productive. Anyway, it's a new day, and the weather has (somewhat) improved, so hopefully we'll close out the week on a strong note. BDH and Little Buddha tell me that the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? It's a wet and windy morning around here so far. The poor Clutter Tree looks so unhappy as the wind sends it swaying back and forth. I can't tell BDH and Little Buddha, but I'm worried about the tree's health. The leaves were not as full as usual this year, and a number of the branches just don't look as strong as I think they should. Hopefully that's just some misplaced anxiety on my part. Anyway, we've got work to do, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? BDH and Little Buddha were asking me when you were going to arrive. As soon as you leave here, they ask me when you're coming back. They're big fans of yours, you know. They tell me that the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Wednesday Clutter. Journalism lost a giant as former Washington Post Executive Editor Ben Bradlee died yesterday from natural causes. Bradlee, of course, ran the newspaper during the legendary Watergate investigation that brought down Richard Nixon. He also oversaw (along... Read more →

Hey everyone, BDH, Little Buddha and I ran around like mad after this morning's Clutter, because we thought it was supposed to start raining early in the afternoon and not stop until Friday, or something like that. We finished all of our errands and then hunkered down for the rain, except now the sun is out, and we're just staring at the leaves that are currently still on the Clutter Tree. I don't know why we fall for the hype for the weather so often. Well, there's only one thing to do now, and that's see what's going on this... Read more →
