September 2014

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? I hope your weekend is going well. Dad Clutter will be down in a bit for the last Red Sox game of the year, and I've got some things that need to be taken care of before then, so let's get to work. Help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Sunday Clutter. Everyone ready? Here we go... My friend Dave and I clearly went to the wrong Red Sox game, because if we had gone Saturday instead of Friday, he would have seen Derek Jeter bat twice, and... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? We're moving a little slowly again here at Clutter Headquarters. It seems one of us was out past his bedtime last night, and he's still trying to wake up. I'm not naming names, but BDH and Little Buddha want me to make it clear we're not talking about them. The boys also tell me that the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Saturday Clutter. My friend Dave is a New York Yankees fan (yes, I'm friends with one or two of them...maybe just... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Friday to you all. I didn't sleep well last night, thanks to two unpleasant dreams that I unfortunately still remember well, so my apologies in advance if this visit is a little incoherent. BDH and Little Buddha promised to make the coffee extra strong, so that should help a bit. Oh, they tell me it's ready, so let's get to work. Help yourself to a nice medium (or perhaps large) DD, because it's time to clear out some Friday Clutter. Clutterheads, you know I love every trip to Fenway Park, but last night... Read more →

Thursday Clutter: Mike Napoli, Keanu Reeves, Beautiful People and more

Hi everyone, Welcome back to Clutter Headquarters. Rosh Hashanah started at sundown last night, so BDH, Little Buddha, and I would all like to wish you a healthy and happy new year. We've prepared the coffee to celebrate, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's kick things off with some Wednesday Clutter. Last night was a good night at Fenway Park as the Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 11-3. My only concern about that is that I hope the Sox saved runs for me tonight. I still need them to win two out of... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How's your week going so far? I just got back from the Northern Estate, so I know we've got a bunch of stuff to catch up on. BDH, Little Buddha tell me that the coffee's ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Wednesday Clutter. Boston pitcher Clay Buchholz had himself a nice game for seven innings last night. Unfortunately, games are nine innings long, and things fell apart quickly for Buchholz and teammates as the Tampa Bay Rays scored five runs in the eighth inning and went on to... Read more →

I wrote a Clutter piece a few years ago about the public's role in Charlie Sheen's public meltdown. The idea was that it was easy to scold and mock the insane actor, but at the end of the day, anyone who had ever seen a movie of his, or watched Two and a Half Men had enabled his out-of-control behavior for decades, because no one would say no to him while he was making so much money for everyone. Reading the piece again, I'm struck by how easy it would be to write the same post today about the NFL... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? Big plans for the weekend? BDH and Little Buddha say that the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's get things going with a little Saturday Clutter. The Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-3 in 10 innings last night. The highlight of the game was watching David Ortiz hit two home runs, which gives Big Papi a team record eight seasons with at least 30 home runs and 100 RBI. Do you remember back when people used to complain about his contract? That was funny. The... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? I'm still a little cranky after my dentist appointment yesterday. It appears I now have several visits coming up which don't strike me as fun, and to make things worse, the office Labradoodle wasn't there yesterday. I should have known that was a bad sign. However, BDH and Little Buddha are here today and are their ever-cheerful selves. They are also the ones with the coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's close out the week with a little Friday Clutter. The Boston Red Sox usually thrive in inter-league... Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? I know it's September 18th, but I'm still trying to adjust to the change in temperatures around here. It seems like it was just days ago that I was still sleeping with the fan on every night, and suddenly I've got to bundle up before going to bed. BDH and Little Buddha have already pulled their blankets out of the trunk. At least the mid-day temperatures are still decent for now. Anyway, enough rambling. We've got work to do, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Thursday... Read more →

Wednesday Clutter: Appreciate the Moment...or Not

I'm sitting at the park lamenting the change in seasons. The grass is bleached out, the leaves are just starting to turn brown, and I'm not quite warm enough in a long-sleeved t-shirt and shorts. Damn it, fall is here, and where there's fall, winter is lurking right around the corner. That means cold weather, less sunlight, and more energy required to fight my innate hermit-like tendencies, none of which appeals to me. Did this summer fly by, or have I just lost all sense of time this year? Then I think, "What am I sad about? This year has... Read more →
