July 2014

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? Apparently I've been talking about today's baseball trading deadline a little too much around here lately, because BDH just nervously asked me if he and Little Buddha were going to be traded to another team. I reassured him that they're both stuck with me for the long haul. The lesson here is to be careful what you say around little ones, my friends. Okay, let's get to work. Help yourself to a nice medium iced DD, and let's close out July with a little Clutter. Brandon Workman took Jon Lester's start last night... Read more →

Wednesday Night Clutter: MA Leads on Women's Health Again

It’s a terrific day as Massachusetts officials promptly responded to the Supreme Court overturning the Buffer Zone Law with today’s passage of An Act to Promote Public Safety and Protect Access to Reproductive Health Care Facilities. No one should be worried about their safety when seeking health care services. However, wins like this don’t happen in a vacuum. MA hasn’t always shown such decisive leadership in this area. In fact, it’s possible that this victory wouldn’t have happened as recently as ten years ago. A lot of work has gone into improving the Commonwealth’s political landscape, and that work is... Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Wednesday to you all. How's your week treating you so far? How is July almost over? Didn't we just celebrate the 4th a day or two ago? Anyway, we've got plenty to cover, so let's get to work. Help yourself to a nice medium iced DD, and let's clear out a little Clutter. Rubby De La Rosa had a decent outing for the Red Sox last night, but it wasn't enough, as Boston lost 4-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays. The loss now drops them to 48-59, and you just wonder if each... Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? We missed you! I'm sorry we've been MIA, but the Northern Estate doesn't have an Internet connection, which can be both a positive and negative. However, we're back at Clutter Headquarters for a while, so let's catch up. Help yourself to a nice medium iced DD, and let's clear out some Tuesday Clutter. Let's see, what happened with the Boston Red Sox since we've been gone? They finally traded Jake Peavy (surprisingly, for two good prospects) and back-up infielder Mike Carp apparently demanded a trade, which is pretty impressive for a guy who... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? It's a bit of a down day at Clutter Headquarters. Today marks the six month anniversary of Mom Clutter's death, and it has me in a funk. BDH and Little Buddha have been doing their best to cheer me up. (I really couldn't ask for two better sidekicks here.) They thought that hanging out with all of you and checking out today's headlines might help, so let's give it a shot. Grab yourself a nice medium iced DD, and let's close out the week with a little Friday Clutter. It's a bad day... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How's your day going so far? I'm sorry we're meeting up later than usual, but I had some things to take care of this morning, and then we were further delayed by the sight of a number of firetrucks suddenly appearing outside our windows. BDH and Little Buddha were not excited to see the firemen climbing their ladder to get to a nearby roof, and I wasn't excited by the ladder brushing against the Clutter Tree's branches, but it all worked out. Now that we've got that out of the way, help yourself to a nice... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How's your week going so far? It sounds like we might have to put the a/c back on today. BDH and Little Buddha just finished making the coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium iced DD, and let's clear out some Wednesday Clutter. The Red Sox saw their five game winning streak come to an end as they lost 7-3 to the Toronto Blue Jays last night. I'm not sure who would be all that excited about picking up Jake Peavy at this point, but hopefully someone will take him off of Boston's hands before... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. Come on in, make yourself comfortable. BDH and Little Buddha were asking me when you were going to arrive, and here you are! They tell me that the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium iced DD, and let's clear out some Tuesday Clutter. The Boston Red Sox made it clear that they're not dead yet last night, demolishing the Toronto Blue Jays 14-1. You know that any game where Stephen Drew has four RBI is going to be a good game (two home runs by David Ortiz don't hurt either). It was... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Monday to you all. It's a sunny day, and hopefully that's a sign of a good week to come. BDH and Little Buddha are anxious to get moving, so let's jump right in. Help yourself to a nice medium iced DD, and let's clear out some fresh Clutter. I admit that I missed yesterday's Boston Red Sox game because I was down the street watching Monty Python's Flying Circus, but Jon Lester must have been inspired by my aura, because he shut down the Kansas City Royals as the Sox won the game... Clutter Goes to the Movies: Monty Python Live (Mostly)

I've been a fan of Monty Python's Flying Circus for almost 30 years now. I can't remember how I originally came across the British comedy troupe, though I feel like it had something to do with an airing on a New Year's Eve on the local PBS station. However it started, I was immediately hooked. I'm pretty sure they were my inspiration for learning how to see VCR timer to record the two episodes WGBH would air each weekend. I didn't fully understand a number of the jokes at the time, but I knew that this absurdist comedy was smarter,... Read more →
