Monday Night Clutter: Enjoy the Change

Hi everyone, I'm still thinking about this morning's Clutter. Writing about Peter Capaldi's upcoming debut in Doctor Who gave me the chance to re-watch Matt Smith's farewell speech. Folks, I'm not going to lie, I cried during this scene when I watched it last Christmas, partly because I was sorry to see Smith's time on the show come to and end, but mostly because I think I knew what other changes were likely coming in the new year. Some six months removed from that viewing, I think the scene deserves another look, because while it's still sad, it's also a... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? How was your weekend? BDH, Little Buddha and I had a lovely time enjoying the wonderful weather. One of us (who shall remain nameless) has a bit of a sunburn right on the two spots he couldn't reach on his back. I won't name names, but he seems to be giving off even more body heat than usual right now. So, it's the end of the first half of 2014. I think it's safe to say that this year hasn't done anything at all for me so far. I can only hope that... Read more →

I caught this tidbit on Twitter yesterday: Eric Clapton announced he has plans to quit touring for good. The legendary guitarist called life on the road "unbearable" and "unapproachable" in a new interview with Uncut magazine and said he's looking to retire that part of his career. I'm thankful I was able to see Clapton play at the Royal Albert Hall in 1995. I was in London for my semester abroad, and my school had a program where we would be reimbursed for any show that we could defend as a "cultural event." This one was a slam dunk (though... Clearing out the Clutter: Buffer Zone Edition

It's not that often that you can have the following conversation: "How was your day?" "The United States Supreme Court unanimously overturned my greatest professional accomplishment. You?" I can cross that item off my bucket list now, thanks to the Supreme Court's 9-0 rejection of the Massachusetts Buffer Zone law today. HISTORY Prior to this statute, Massachusetts had a useless law that established an 18 foot area around the clinic entrance where you had to stay at least 6 feet away from patients and staff entering and leaving the building, unless you had "implied consent," in which case, all bets... Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? It's a grey morning here, and I guess we're expecting more rain later today, which is fine because the Clutter Tree could use some water. BDH and Little Buddha are looking at the movie listings to see if there's anything they want to go to, though nothing seems to be jumping out right now. Hmmm. Anyway, they made some fresh coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Thursday Clutter. Clay Buchholz made his return to the Boston Red Sox as they played the Seattle Mariners last... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back, come on in. How are you? I'm a little cranky at the moment, but BDH and Little Buddha tell me they think checking out the news (and hanging out with all of you, of course) might help, so I defer to their wisdom, as always. The coffee is ready, so let's get to work. Help yourself to a medium DD, and let's clear out some Wednesday Clutter. For all of the Boston Red Sox woes, the starting pitchers haven't let the games get away from them all that often. However, Jake Peavy couldn't keep the Sox... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? I spent most of yesterday afternoon thinking that it was Tuesday, so apparently it's going to be one of those weeks. BDH and Little Buddha promised to try to keep me on track, though, so that was nice. They tell me that the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Wednesday Tuesday Clutter. The Boston Red Sox got off to a good start against Felix Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners last night, taking a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning. However,... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Monday to you all. Any big plans for this week? The Clutter staff has a number of meetings to attend. You know the usual VIP movers and shakers kind of deal. Well, BDH and Little Buddha are the ones who are actually invited to these meetings, I'm just the transportation guy. Speaking of those two, they tell me the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's start off the week with a little Clutter. The Red Sox came dangerously close to a terrible loss yesterday when the... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back. How are you? Having a good weekend so far? It's another gorgeous day outside. BDH and Little Buddha are still sleeping, so it's up to me to to make today's coffee. Hope you like it. So help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Sunday Clutter. Give pitcher Rubby De La Rosa credit, he stepped up against the Oakland A's, giving up just one run and four hits over seven innings, but it wasn't enough, as the Boston Red Sox lost 2-1 in extra innings yesterday. This season has to be so... Read more →

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Friday to you all. It's a gorgeous day, and I'm glad I don't have to wear a suit again for a while, because that's just not fun in the summer. BDH and Little Buddha are anxious to get to the park, so we better get moving. (They call the shots around here, I'm just the one who types it up.) Help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's close out the week with a little Clutter. The Boston Red Sox fell 4-2 to the Oakland A's last night. Jake Peavy was decent,... Read more →
