Scene from a Lemonade Stand

I learned an important life lesson years ago. I forget where I read it, I suspect it was in a Robert Fulghum story, but it's absolutely true: You should aways buy lemonade from kids at a lemonade stand. Do it even if you don't want lemonade, even if you don't like lemonade, or even if you have to cross the street and walk a block out of your way to get to the stand. It sounds like something from a Hallmark card, but trust me, you'll never go wrong with this one. I was walking down the street, slightly cold... Read more →

Saturday Clutter

Hi everyone, Thanks for stopping by on this fine Saturday. What's the plan for the day? I'm thinking this morning might call for multiple DD's, so let's grab the first cup and see what we've got here today. The Red Sox blew a 4-2 lead and ended up losing 5-4 to the Seattle Mariners last night. The big story was Dice-K suddenly coming out of the game in the top of the 5th inning with what I think they're calling elbow tightness. I would have called this a positive development two weeks ago, but now that he was on a... Read more →

Friday Clutter

Hi everyone, Happy Friday to you all. How many people got up before the sun today? If that's the case, grab your next medium DD, and let's check out today's non-matrimonial headlines. Jon Lester continued his dominance of the Baltimore Orioles as the Red Sox won 6-2. Lester is now 14-0 in his career against Baltimore, which is the longest winning streak any active pitcher has against an opponent. Actually, I think they said last night that it's the longest winning streak ever for a pitcher. In any case, Lester looked in control right from the beginning. The Orioles came... Read more →

Thursday Clutter

Hi everyone, How are you? What have you been up to since last we met? What's the latest news in the neighborhood? Apparently we're going to have plenty of May flowers, because it sounds like more April showers are on the way. Well anyway, come on in and make yourself comfortable. The DD is brewing, so let's get to work. The Boston Red Sox lose again to the Baltimore Orioles, this time by a score of 5-4. I think it's generous of the Sox to make the Orioles look like a legit team year after year. The O's will likely... Read more →

Wednesday Clutter

Hi everyone, Yes, the rumors are true, it is in fact Wednesday again. Seems like only yesterday it was Tuesday. Congratulations on making to the midpoint of another week. Why don't you treat yourself to a nice hot medium DD to celebrate, and then we'll clear out a little Clutter. Everyone got your cups? Yes? Ok, we're off... I had a great time last night at the "Chocolate Madness" event thrown by NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts. I bet you can't guess what the sole food was at the event. It was nice to catch up with some folks I haven't seen... Read more →

Stone Cold Clutter

Most, if not all of you, must remember Stone Cold Steve Austin. Whether you were a pro wrestling fan or not in the 1990's, it was impossible to get away from "The Rattlesnake." Austin, who'd been around the wrestling world for about 10 years, hit it big, no make that, hit it HUGE when he created his "Stone Cold" persona, which he claimed was simply an exaggerated version of himself. That Texas redneck was the meanest dog in the yard, laying waste to Vince McMahon, the Rock, and anyone else got in his path, while enjoying a beer or two,... Read more →

Tuesday Clutter

Good morning, everyone. How are you? It's a foggy morning outside Clutter Headquarters. I'd say it's dreary, but the Clutter Tree continues to grow its leaves more and more with each passing day, and they're a nice counterbalance to the rest of this scene. Let's all grab a nice medium DD and contemplate how cool this tree is...oh, and then we'll clear out some Clutter. In a piece that I'm sure Clutterhead Elizabeth has already read 20 times, Red Sox captain Jason Varitek opens up about the challenges in his life over the last few years. Who knew that Belle... Monday Clutter

Hello everyone, How was your weekend? Raise your hand if you still have a stomach ache from all of the chocolate you ate yesterday. You know what helps with that? That's right, a nice fresh medium DD! Yeah, totally helps with a stomach ache. Sure, why not? In any case, BDH just made a nice fresh pot, so help yourself to a cup, then grab a seat, and we'll be on our way with a little randomness for the day. What a fun day for Boston sports fans yesterday. First the Boston Celtics sweep the New York Knicks right out... Read more →

Monday Morning Jukebox

Gooooood morning, Clutterheads! Happy Monday to you, one and all. The arrival of another Monday can only mean one thing. Yes, that's right, it's time for another installment of "Monday Morning Jukebox," where we pick a song to get the week started off on the right note. Today's pick comes to us courtesy of my gym. This little ditty was playing while I was working out yesterday, and it's been in my head ever since. You all know the rules, if it's in my head, it has to be in yours! Isn't sharing fun? Ladies and gentlemen, it will put... Read more →

I Like Stories

Dad Clutter came down for a visit to Clutter Headquarters yesterday. It was good see him as always, and BDH was on his best behavior. We went out for dinner and talked about all sorts of things. Somehow the conversation eventually led to me retelling him the story of the greatest heckling I've ever heard at Fenway Park. I can't write it here, you have to hear it in person. Anyway, he's heard it before, but as the story grew more and more animated, he was laughing so hard, I thought he was going to choke on his reuben sandwich.... Read more →
