December 2009

Twenty Years

It's December 31, 1989, Concord, New Hampshire. Somewhere around 11pm. A 15 year old boy and his friend are taking in the sights of First Night New Hampshire, because that's what you do on New Year's when you're a 15 year old living in NH. The two friends are talking about how disgusting their summer jobs at Burger King were. The boy tells his friend that it was so gross, he'll never eat at Burger King or McDonalds again. His friend doesn't believe him, and he bets him a dollar that he can't go a year without eating at one... Read more →

Late Night Clutter

I didn't do a news roundup today, and I think that actually made me a little antsy. In case anyone needs help getting to sleep tonight, here's a little late night Clutter. Condolences to the family of Steve "Dr. Death" Williams,a former professional wrestler who was also an outstanding collegiate wrestler and football player for the University of Oklahoma in the late 1970's-early 1980's. "Dr. Death" was one of those guys who always seemed to be a legit bad ass who just happened to be a pro wrestler. He fought long and hard against cancer for most of this decade,... Read more →

I'm Still Standing

Holy wind! I can barely hear myself think while typing this because the roar outside is so loud. What's tomorrow's weather forecast--2 degrees and windy or 70 degrees and sunny? Neither would surprise me. Living it up on stay-cation--had both a large DD with milk and sugar and then a vanilla chai later on. I might not sleep tonight, but oh well. Let's get down to business. Ok, I was just kidding with yesterday's intimidation challenge, but now you all are messing with me. The results are in, and in the last 24 hours, we had....almost exactly the same number... Tangled up in Clutter

I'm not sure why it happened in the first place, but my sleep problems seem to be slowly fading away. I have a whole new respect for people who have chronic sleep issues, because I would have been in the hospital if that had continued much longer. We were getting to the point that the DD with milk and sugar wasn't making a difference, and you know that's not a good scene. Now, onto the Clutter. Good luck to Levi Johnston in his custody battle with Bristol Palin, and good call on his part to want to fight the case... Read more →

Intimidate Me

We almost made history on Monday, as Clearing out the Clutter had the second highest single-day traffic in this history of this blog. That can only mean one of two things: 1) You like me, you really like me! or 2) Everyone was seriously bored at work. We were so close to breaking the record, I debated visiting the site myself a few times just to put it over the top, but decided that would be cheating. However, this is going to gnaw at me, so if you're bored again on Tuesday, I ask you to consider forwarding the link... Read more →

Metallica, McConnell, and More Monday Clutter

I hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of 2009. Where did this year go? It's all one big blur at this point, except for the constant presence of a DD with milk and sugar. Gotta say, the stay-cation was a good call. Let's clear some Clutter. I'm still devastated by yesterday's end of the football pool, but on the flip-side, it was great to watch the Patriots pick apart the Jaguars to win the AFC East Title. I think that was the best I've seen the team look all year. I know this isn't exactly the strongest division... Read more →

The End

I knew there was a good chance I'd have to write this post this year. I kept putting it off, week after week, but it was always lurking in the back of the Clutter. Making just enough noise to make sure I knew it was there. It's classic deja vu all over again. Much like the State House Christmas Party, the faces may change, but the dynamic remains the same. There will be that one game of the football season where you think you know the winner and don't even have to think that hard about it. You can't really... Read more →

Merry Christmas Clutter (Intern Edition)

Hi everyone, it's the Clutter interns. Colin and Mrs. Clutter are off making the Christmas rounds, and he left us in charge of the office. Ha! We're having a holiday party while the boss is out (don't tell him), so here are a few "Clips and Songs of the Day" for your enjoyment. Colin will be back soon with your regularly scheduled Clutter, but in the meantime, Merry Christmas! We all know what a big Van Halen fan Colin is, so let's start with the opening song from their 1995 Balance tour. Check out who introduced them. That guy looks... Read more →

Christmas Eve Clutter

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone. I hope you're all set with your shopping. There are just a few hours left before my stay-cation begins. Mrs. Clutter and I will be making the rounds over the next 24 hours. There's a lot of driving involved, but it's always a fun time. The Clutter interns seem to be up to something. I'm not sure what that's all about, so please keep an eye on them for me if you can. Now let's clear out a little Clutter while (somewhat) enjoying a large DD with milk and (not enough) sugar. The ongoing Mike Lowell... Read more →

Two Days Before Christmas Clutter

Oh what randomness we had on Tuesday. The day started with me returning a call and having that person berate me for returning their call. I'm still not entirely sure how that worked, but I'm guessing someone isn't feeling the holiday spirit. Next came a trip to City Hall to get a new residential parking permit, only to have City Hall evacuated for 30 minutes due to either a false alarm or a drill. Happy Tuesday everyone! Congressman changes parties. Well, that happens every now and again after a long-time incumbent gradually finds himself out of touch with the current... Read more →
