We're Outta Here

Ok folks, this is it. The last Clutter until Melanie and I get back from our honeymoon. I appreciate you hanging out with me, and I hope to "see you" again when we return. On that note, let me leave you with a "Song of the Day" that I think really captures my feelings about you all at this time: Simple Minds - Don't You Forget About Me Lyrics Hey, hey, hey ,hey Ohhh... Won't you come see about me? I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby Tell me your troubles and doubts Giving me everything inside and out... Read more →

Just Passing Through

Don't mind me folks, just passing through. Melanie and her crew are off getting their manicures and pedicures, and the place is quiet for just a little while longer until everyone starts arriving at the hotel, so I just thought I'd say hi with a little random Clutter... Congratulations to the Angels for coming back to win Game Five of the ALCS, as Kevin Millar chuckles in the distance. The Yankees may very well win Game Six by a score of 9-2 and end this thing, but they better hope that's what happens, because I don't think they have a... Read more →

Friday Clip of the Day

I couldn't leave you all without this parting gift to get your weekend started on the right note: There may be fewer things that are more annoying than David Caruso's opening shtick to every episode of CSI: Miami. You know, tilt the head, put on those %$%^& sunglasses and say the one-liner. However, if you take seven minutes and 17 seconds worth of those openings and past them together, you get terrific unintentional humor. Thus I give you, the "Friday Clip of the Day." Read more →

Is This It?

The craziness is about to hit the critical stage, so this might be it for pre-wedding Clutter. Don't forget to come back Tuesday for a special song of the day! Things are kicking up another gear. The maid of honor arrived last night, and the family starts coming into town tomorrow. That reminds me, I need to make sure the press release goes out... Boston residents, don't forget to vote on November 3rd. The candidates have been working night and day to get your support, so give them a little love and go vote, regardless of who you support...unless you... Read more →

Polls and Police Boxes

A quick note before we get started to the woman who sat next to me on the bus this morning. When your water bottle falls out of your bag four times in five minutes, maybe, just maybe, you should come up with a new game plan besides jamming it into the same small pocket. Just a thought. Now, what's on tap for today... The current weather forecast for Sunday is partly sunny with a high of 59 degrees. I'll take that. I said a few days ago that I'd like to hear more about Councilor Michael Flaherty's internal poll that... Read more →

Tuesday Shots 10.20.09

Just a few thoughts while enjoying a large DD with milk and sugar... Last night's mayoral debate lacked the drama that some had hoped for. Mayor Menino was unimpressive, but Councilor Flaherty, while steady, never landed a hard hit that rattled the mayor. Councilor Flaherty trails by 9-20 points (depending on the poll), and it's hard to see how he can make that up at this point. I still can't understand what the issue was with moderator Emily Rooney who was so disruptive to the flow of the debate, and frequently seemed to not know what was coming next. I... Read more →

Monday Shots (Afternoon Edition)

There were so many shots to be had today, I couldn't fit them all in this morning... Is this the last chance for some drama in the mayoral race? The Flaherty campaign claims to have an internal poll saying it's only a 7-9% gap. I'd love to hear more about that. It's amazing how much power there is in human contact. Apparently Mayor Menino has met everyone in this city at least once. That reminds me, I have to vote this week. Terrific op-ed by Bono in Sunday's New York Times. I'm sort of fascinated by Shane McMahon's decision to... Read more →

Monday Morning Shots

Too early for shots, you say? Nonsense. All bets are off this week, and besides, my back is bothering me, so let's see what we've got on tap: I'm sorry I didn't have the Patriots in the football pool this week (we'll get to my pick in a second)-I would have been able to relax within the first five minutes of the game! 59-0. Wow. Given the weather, I would have predicted an ugly 17-10 game that could have gone either way. Instead, we saw history. It was like when I used to play Madden 2005 and would play the... The Magic Number

For those of you keeping track at home, the magic number is in fact, 1! Yes, in just one short week, or seven short days (whichever comes first), we will have the event of the year and party of all parties. It's amazing how quickly "The Magic Number"countdown has gone by. For some reason, it seems like I wrote the one for "four" just yesterday. I've known for several months that there were four major work events that I had to get through in October before we got to the 25th. It may have been a little challenging to stay... Read more →

Special Saturday "Song of the Day"

Hi folks. A lot of running around today, so enjoy this clip, and hopefully we'll have time for a full-fledged bunch of Clutter soon. I was standing in Dunkin Donuts this morning, waiting to order my large with milk(!) and sugar, plus a glazed stick (horrible name, but terrific Saturday snack), when "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia came on. I had an instant flashback to what has to be the best performance of this song ever, courtesy of the 2006 "Secret Policeman's Ball" by Amnesty International. Enjoy! Read more →
