Sunday Clutter: Mueller Indictments, Trump, Emma Gonzalez, Boston Red Sox, Gronk, King of Wishful Thinking, and more
Welcome back! How's your weekend going so far? We had a productive day at HQ yesterday, getting a number of errands done, as well as enjoying a good book. BDH and Little Buddha were just looking out the window at all of the snow we got last night. They're still trying to figure out if I have to shovel it, or if I can just wait for it to melt, since the temperatures should reach the 40's later today.
Even if I do need to clear out the Clutter Car, this snow isn't going to last long, with temperatures reaching close to 70 in a few days. It can't be a good sign for it to be so warm in February, but I have a hard time arguing about disappearing snow. Anyway, enough rambling, let's get to work. The guys made you some coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Clutter.
Now that Robert Mueller has indicted 13 Russians for interfering in the 2016 election, can we stop with the nonsense about all of this being a witch hunt? Of course, Donald Trump is launching a new wave of hysterical misdirection and dishonesty, but even Trump's own national security adviser H.R. McMaster acknowledges this happened. The walls continue to close in on the Great Pumpkin, because there's no way he'd get away with firing Mueller now.
The White House claims to be tightening their security procedures, following the Rob Porter scandal. However, Jared Kushner continues to ask for significant amounts of classified information, despite the fact he also can't secure a permanent clearance. This group of dolts continues to leave American security vulnerable at every opportunity.
Oh, and let's not forget the news that Donald Trump was also reportedly having an affair with a Playboy model in 2006-2007, and the National Enquirer apparently covered it up during the 2016 election. That's in addition to his fling with adult film star Stormy Daniels, and whoever else is the next story to come forward. Just one more story that leaves the White House occupant at risk of blackmail, and it's also a reason to ignore any religious "leader" who claims that Trump is a moral man.
Emma Gonzalez, one of the survivors of last week's Florida shooting, called out politicians for their inaction on gun control yesterday, in a speech that will go down in the history books.

Boston Red Sox DH/first baseman Hanley Ramirez is talking a big game about the upcoming season. Now that he's had shoulder surgery, Ramirez thinks he should be looking at 30 home runs and 100 RBI this year. He had 23 and 62 in 2017, so it would be a big boost to the Boston offense if he can back this up. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he's looking at a contract option for 2019, so his motivation level shouldn't be in question.
We hope that Rob Gronkowski will be back with the New England Patriots next year, but Gronk would certainly have potential in the WWE if he does decide to call it quits in the NFL.
Free agent Eric Hosmer finally has a home. Hosmer will sign an 8-year/$144 million contract with the San Diego Padres. It's all monopoly money, but contracts that are that long look ridiculous from here. Too much can happen to any player to justify that length, unless maybe they're a once-in-a-generaton talent (maybe), and that's not Hosmer. Wonder if this will inspire JD Martinez to continue to dig in his heels in discussions with the Boston Red Sox. If so, the Sox should just move on and see how this season plays out.
Take a deep breath, Star Wars fans: Mark Hamill is still alive.
Okay kids, that's going to do it for now. BDH and Little Buddha were scrolling through YouTube recently, and they saw that Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd did a shot-for-shot remake of the Go West video for, "King of Wishful Thinking." It's a funny clip, but let's close things out here with the original for today's, "Song of the Day."
Thanks for stopping by, everyone. It was great to see you, as always. Enjoy the rest of your day, be good, and we'll meet up again for more fun soon. Until next time, that's today's Clearing out the Clutter, and we may or may not be the King(s) of Wishful Thinking, but we are outta here.
